Analysts Respond - IBM Storwize V7000 in 2010
"The IBM Storwize V7000 embeds the best of IBM's storage technology into an
easy-to-deploy architecture. This new mid-range storage system offers layers
of additional software for virtualization, solid-state optimization, and thin
provisioning without requiring any integration by storage administrators. They
only have to plug it in, follow the wizards, and migrate the data - just what the
doctor ordered!"
Mike Kahn, Managing Director and Founder, The Clipper Group, Inc..
"The IBM Storwize V7000 utilizes automatic solid-state storage optimization
with IBM Easy Tier, providing up to 300% performance increase for I/O bound
applications by migrating the most active data to solid-state storage. Easy Tier
moves small data extents, rather than entire volumes, so it makes very efficient
use of expensive solid-state storage."

Talk on the Street - IBM Storwize V7000 review
…Author Alan Stevens give his review
Source: Alan Stevens
Date: Thursday, February 24, 2011
There have been numerous attempts at repackaging high-end enterprise products
for a wider audience, but few get it right. One exception, however, could be IBM’s new
Storwize V7000, which mixes enterprise-class storage virtualization with custom
hardware and an intuitive management interface to create a highly scalable, yet easy-
to-deploy, mid-range storage solution.
IBM Storwize V7000 review
The V7000 is incredibly well designed, right down to built-in batteries inside the
power supplies, enabling cached data to be written out in the event of a total power
failure. The browser-based V7000 GUI features animated graphics to help simplify
management tasks.

Value to Your Customer: Financial Institution – Store Less Data
9
Helped boost performance for future
growth and created virtualization of existing
storage that provides easy migration of the
current storage infrastructure. Additionally,
the remote replication for archiving and
disaster recovery has been a great benefit
to the bank.
We not only virtualize the storage, improving utilization from 30% up to 80%, we then add thin provisioning and make your storage dollar stretch further… But it doesn’t stop there – we can efficiently snap copies of data to make back ups quick and super easy.

Value to Your Customer: Online Retailer – Data in the Right Place
10
Cater to very 'peaky' e-commerce type workloads using Easy Tier
What is Easy Tier? It’s a really slick feature that moves data from fast disk to even faster SSD storage - automatically. And it’s smart, too. It learns workload behavior and adapts to it.

Value to Your customer: Private University – Does More with Existing Data
11
IBM helped the client develop the solution that would ‘future proof’ their
infrastructure for years to come, as well as provide a highly scalable and
flexible infrastructure….and even protected the University’s Sun Storage
investment
Universities build young minds…. They also tend to build lots of islands of isolated storage! That’s OK – the Storwize V7000 can help protect those investments by building value for clients, and providing timely access to data.

Flexible Payment Options with IBM Global Financing
IBM Storage Client How we added value
University of Calgary
Attractive lease option reduces TCO: Since budget was a major concern the university arranged
a lease program through IBM Global Financing Services. In addition to helping reduce the total
cost of ownership, leasing helps the university keep technologies current and make flexible
equipment decisions to support student growth and changing administrative needs.
LEGO Systems
“IBM Global Financing was able to assist during this period of very high growth, as our
investment budget is required for many different projects. LEGO is in a capital intensive
platform-building phase, and we are perhaps 50 percent complete. IBM Global Financing was
able to make the investments possible without diverting precious resources away from the core
business building activities. - Esben Viskum, Senior Director, LEGO Service Center
Packet One Networks
Helped client to:
Preserve capital for marketing expenditures that help exploit growth opportunities
Expedite implementation and easily continue its aggressive growth
Decrease total cost of ownership— 64.8% savings over four years
Rochling Automotive
IBM Global Financing delivered funding for hardware and SAP software in three stages to align
with implementation progress with repayment for all three stages calculated across the 39-month
period, all in a single monthly payment
Röchling Automotive achieved a single monthly payment plan for the whole project.
Ensured that client could implement the latest technology to support business-critical R&D
processes, and also released several million Euros of capital to invest in other projects
