CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE

Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS

Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY

(90-179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit. Sixteen

free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the deployment.

A copy of the Service Member„s orders must be provided. The CDC opens

twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly care is $4.00 per

hour will apply; payment must be made in advance. This service may be

utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care.

Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in advance.

Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space limitations,

paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed Service

Member„s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments will be

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE

Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between

CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE

childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would

like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service

your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must be

made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

CORPORATE MINIATURE GOLF TOURNAMENTS

The Rec Plex wants you to team up for a fun and energizing team building

opportunity with Corporate Miniature Golf Tournaments. The Rec Plex

miniature golf course is a superb environment for a great team building

experience with some friendly competition. Book your slot now through

October 31 from 8:00 am – 11:00 am! Cost is $5 per person, includes

exclusive use of the miniature golf course and activity room. Rec Plex is

EMPLOYEE NOOTIME LEAGUE

Daugherty Bowling Center’s Employee Noontime League is in session.

League is a two person team; each team will bowl 2 games each Thursday

during lunch. Shadow bowling begins at 11:30 am / game begins at 11:40

am. League is open to authorized personnel. Cost is $5 per person /

LADIES GOLF FUN LEAGUE

Piney Valley Golf Course’s Ladies Golf Fun League is in session. League

is held every Tuesdays at 5:00 pm. Registration fee is $30 for non-

members / $20 for members. There will be weekly fees which are based

on pay grade. The fun league is great for team building, a stress reliever,

or just to hang out with friends, coworkers, and/or family. There will be an

end of the league banquet dinner and trophies for winners. Open to the

public. Piney Valley Golf Course is located on FLW 20 off Water Intake

SCHOOL AGE SERVICES SUMMER CAMP

School Age Services summer camp program is in session for youth

currently enrolled in 1st - 5th grade. Weekly activities include swimming,

bowling, mini golf and field trips. Weekly theme based field trips include

but are limited to, Miner Mike‟s, Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area,

Kokomo Joe‟s, Pizza Hut, Meramac Caverns, MacCreeds Art Gallery in

Lebanon, Baker‟s Seed Company, and more. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks

are provided. No additional charge for field trips.

CLARKE LIBRARY’S READING PROGRAM

Knights, dragons, castles, royalty, magic and more is what to expect this

year at Clarke Library’s annual summer reading program; this year‟s

theme is “A Midsummer Knights Read”. Enjoy 8-fantastic weeks of

summer reading fun! Don‟t forget to enter for weekly drawings. Check out

The Pippin Youth Center is hosting Smart Girls Camp, an all female camp

for youth in grades 6-12. Camp will combine life lessons and fun activities.

Camp will run from August 1-5 from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. A $25 non-

refundable deposit is required. Interested youth must register by July 27.

Youth must be registered with CYS Services prior to sign-up. Space is

EXPLORE MISSOURI CAMP REGISTRATION

Let‟s explore the Show-Me state at Pippin Youth Center’s Explore Missouri

Camp. Youth will experience local explorations of Missouri and visits to

different area in the state. Camp will run from July 25-29 from 8:00 am -

4:00 pm. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required. Camp is open to

registered youth in grades 6-12. Interested youth must register by July 20.

WATER WEEK CAMP REGISTRATION

The Pippin Youth Center is hosting a water week camp from July 11-15

from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Enjoy a week of aquatic activities. A $25 non-

refundable deposit is required. Camp is open to registered youth in grades

6-12. Interested youth must register by July 6. Youth must be registered

SKIES UKULELE WORKSHOP REGISTRATION

The SKIES Unlimited program is hosting a Ukulele Workshop every

Tuesday beginning July 5 from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm at the Audie Murphy’s

Community Center for youth ages 7-18 yrs. Youth will learn about the

unique and widely known instrument and learn the joy of island music.

Cost is $35, does not include book. Youth must own a ukulele. Youth must

be registered with CYS Services prior to sign-up. Register today at the

OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE REGISTRATION

Sign up today for Open Water Diver Course from July 8-10! Cost is $650,

includes open water DVD, personal equipment (mask, snorkel, fins, dive

boots-a $500 value), travel, lodging, and food. Course is open to the

public. Must register by July 1 at the Outdoor Adventure Center located in

STARS & STRIPES SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION

Sign-up today for Family & MWR Sports and Fitness Stars & Stripes

Softball Tournament held Saturday, July 2 at 9:00 am at Softball Complex

B located on Minnesota & Nebraska Avenue. Prizes will include team

trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Individual awards for first and second

place. Registration is open to the public 18 yrs. and older. Cost is $125 per

team. Tournament is open to the first 16 paid entries. Register today at the

4th OF JULY CAR SHOW REGISTRATION

Show off your ride at the Family & MWR 4th of July Car Show. Enter in one

of five categories: show cars, muscle, import, race or factory original, one

class per entry. Prizes for 1st & 2nd runner ups, each car class. Car show

will be held at the Gammon Field from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Registration is

WATER SKIING SUNDAYS REGISTRATION

Sign up for Water Skiing Sundays beginning June 26 from 9:00 am – 3:00

pm at Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area. Cost is $50 per person.

Transportation to the lake will be provided. Must be registered before class

date begins. Event is open to the public. Register at the Outdoor

Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Road.

FLY FISHING 101 REGISTRATION

Sign up today for Fly Fishing 101 beginning June 25 from 10:00 am – 3:00

pm at the Outdoor Adventure Center. Cost is $10 per person. Program will

offer a personalized in-depth introduction of the fly fishing world taught by

expert Mr. Greg Maxwell. Fishing license is not required. Must be

registered before class date begins. Program is open to the public.

2011 ALL NIGHT SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT SIGN-UP

Sign-up up today for Family & MWR Sports and Fitness 2011 All Night

Softball Tournament held June 24 at 6:00 pm at Softball Complex B.

Registration is open to the public 18 yrs. and older. Cost is $125 per

team. Tournament is open to the first 16 paid entries. Registration ends

STRANGER TIDE CARDBOARD REGATTA REGISTRATION

Family & MWR is calling for the talents of adults and youth alike to

participate in our inaugural Stranger Tide Cardboard Boat Regatta on

June 11 at 10:00 am at Bloodland Lake. Gather your team and get ready

to build a boat and set Sail on “Stranger Tides”. This is a wonderful

events for friends, families and co-workers; great for a team-building

experience. Pick up your pirates code package at the MWR Special

Events located in Bldg. 1000, South Dakota Avenue, Room 110. No

registration fee. Regatta is open to the public.

JUNIOR GOLF CLINIC REGISTRATION

The Piney Valley Golf Course is offering a Junior Golf Clinic for youth

ages 8-18. This golf program is designed to teach young golfers about

the game of golf as well as know the proper rules and etiquette on

golfing. Cost is $60 per person, includes meal, combined tournament

held on July 27. There are two session to choose from. Sign-up at the

Piney Valley Golf Course located on FLW 20 (off Water Intake Rd.).

JULY EDGE PROGRAM REGISTRATION (Grades 1-5)

CYS Services has partnered up with other MWR facilities to bring the

youth of the Fort Leonard Wood community the EDGE Program. This

monthly program offers after school opportunities for youth to Experience,

Develop, Grow and Excel by participating in cutting-edge activities.

Program begins July. Participants must be registered with CYS Services.

Open to registered youth in grades 1-5. Program fees may vary.

Art EDGE! – Top Chef Jr. – Sweets Week. Youth will have the

opportunity to learn basics of cooking and preparing sweet dishes.

Program begins July 5. Youth meets Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 pm

– 4:30 pm at Audie Murphy’s Community Center. Cost is $25.

Registration deadline is June 28.

Adventure EDGE! – Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch! Youth will

take a trip to the Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch. Program will run

from July 14-15 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Cost is $90 per child,

Includes lunch and transportation. Registration deadline is July 1.

Art EDGE! – Candle, Lotion, & Perfume Making. Youth will have the

opportunity to learn how to make candles, lotions, and perfume. Program

begins July 11. Program will take place at the Rec Plex from 2:30 pm –

4:30 pm. Cost is $50. Registration deadline is July 5.

Fit EDGE! –Field Games! Youth will play a variety of field games at

Softball Complex C from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Program will begin July 18.

Cost is $25. Registration deadline is July 11.

ARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDING

Do you want a better understanding of the Army life? The Army Family

Team Building (AFTB) classes will help you to not just cope with, but

also understand, military life. With AFTB you will gain the knowledge

and self-confidence to take responsibility for yourself and your family

while your sponsor is away. It‟s training for a way of life that prepares

you to function at the highest level. Many of these courses can be

applied toward college credits, resume/career building, and self-

development. Classes are FREE and open to the public. Classes

consist of three levels and you are encouraged to take all three. Child

care is available through CYS Services, child must be registered, must

make reservations 8 days prior to class. For more information call the

EDGE: CROSS FIT TRAINING (Grades 3-12)

The CYS EDGE Cross Fit Training program for grades 3-12 is in

session. In this session, youth will have the opportunity to challenge

themselves and learn the basics of cross fit training. Youth meets every

Wednesday at Davidson Fitness Center from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Shuttle

will leave School Ages Services at 3:40 pm and leave Pippin Youth

Center at 3:30 pm and return to School Age Services by 5:15 pm and to

Pippin Youth Center at 5:30 pm. For more information call 596-6913.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT TRAP LEAGUE

Outdoor Adventure Center‟s Wednesday Night Trap League is in

session. League is from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Cost is $15 per person,

includes dinner and one round trap. League is open to the public ages

10 yrs. and older. Trophies will be awarded to top shooters during

award dinner held July 8 at 6:30 pm. Interested participants must

preregister at the Outdoor Adventure Center is located in Bldg. 2290

Outdoor Adventure Center’s Nighttime Archery League is in session.

League is from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Cost is $5 per person. Shoot for score;

trophies will be awarded to top shooters. League is open to the public

ages 10 yrs. and older. Trophies will be awarded during award dinner held

July 8 at 6:30 pm. Interested participants must preregister at the Outdoor

SIZZLING SUMMER BOWLING SPECIAL

Daugherty Bowling Center is offering a Sizzling Summer Bowling Special,

will receive one FREE game of bowling per day, shoe rental not included.

Want to learn how to loom knit? The House Next Door is hosting an

instructional class on Loom Knitting from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Learn the

Celebrate Clarke Library’s summer reading program with a Krazy Kick-Off

3D ARCHERY TOURNAMENT

The Outdoor Adventure Center’s annual Archery Tournament is in

session. Tournament is from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm. Tournament will be a

normal 3D shoot, a great opportunity to test your capabilities in judging

yardage and shot placement. The course is comprised of 30 stations shot

from a single point. Dare to show off your archery skills? Registration will

begin at 10:00 am. Cost is $10 adults / $5 youth. Outdoor Adventure

Center is located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Rd.

BUNDLES OF JOY-SESSION II

Army Community Service is hosting session two of Bundles of Joy class

for new & expecting parents. Class will cover topics such as bonding with

your baby, swaddling and comforting, child safety, Shaken Baby

Syndrome, budgeting for your baby, and more. Class will meet on

Mondays at Army Community Service from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm. Class is

FREE and open to authorized personnel. Army Community Service is

located on Bldg. 486 on Replacement Avenue.

CYS Youth Sports & Fitness program‟s Mini Flag Football is in session.

Mini flag football is a great opportunity for your child to learn to play and

the Pippin Youth Center on Tuesdays for 3 yrs. old and Thursdays for 4-5

yrs. old from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Mini flag football is a parent participation

HIRED! PARENT & YOUTH ORIENTATION

The Pippin Youth Center is hosting a HIRED! Parent and Youth

Orientation from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. The HIRED! Program is an

apprenticeship program offered through the CYS Services that is designed

to meet the workforce-preparation and secondary education needs of

eligible youth. HIRED is FREE and open to registered youth in grades 9-

Last chance to play BIG at the Family & MWR Texas Hold ‘em! Top 15

players will have the chance to play at the finals. Play is held at the

Pershing Community Center at 6:00 pm / check in is at 5:30 pm.

FRAME SHOP

Frame Class

The Frame Shop offers a one-on-one class. Learn to mat, mount, and

secure your artwork in a frame. Students are introduced to frame shop

equipment and safety procedures. You will also learn to choose the right

mat color, determine margins, frame joinery, mounting techniques, and

frame closures. Students will receive a personal protective equipment kit

and frame shop card that allows you to access the self-help area. Cost

for class is $20 plus supplies. Must be 18 yrs. and older to participate.

Must bring in your project you wish to frame on your appointment. Class

is open to the public. Frame shop is located in Bldg. 490 Mini Mall.

Engraving

The Frame Shop now offers engraving. Let the Frame Shop capture your

memories and expressions. You can engrave on wood, plastic, glass,

acrylic, mat board, pens, metals, and more. This is great for gifts, awards,

DAVIDSON FITNESS CENTER

Child Care at DFC

Family & MWR knows your family comes first and that shouldn't mean

your fitness has to come last. Davidson Fitness Center is offering a place

for your child(ren) can play while you achieve your fitness goals. An

"Insight Child Care Area" is available Mon-Fri 8am-11am. An enclosed a

play area will entertain your child while you exercise - no attendant is on

hand - child MUST be in the parent/guardian's line of sight at all times.

Equipment Orientation

Make the most of your workouts. Learn how to properly use the cardio

and strength equipment. Free 30-Minute equipment orientations will be

held at the Davidson Fitness Center and Specker Gym on Mondays at

9:00 am and Thursdays at 6:00 pm. For more information call 596-4359.

Aerobic Classes

A variety of aerobic classes are offered monthly at various times to fit

your fitness level and your busy schedule. Aerobic passes are available,

cost $15-10 punch, $25-20 punch, and $30-30 punch. Aerobic schedule

Swim lessons are being offered at Davidson Fitness Center for children
