WHAT DOES DAISHO MEAN ANYWAY?

For the Samurai, Japan’s elite warriors, the daishō (大小)

referred to the two swords in his collection. The literal

meaning of daishō is “big-small”; the long sword, called

Katana and the short sword, called wakizashi. For the

Samurai, the daishō was an extension of the soul.

To us the daishō and the Samurai way of life is symbolic

in many levels:

The Bushido, (way of life), was the Samurai’s code of

ethics which were honor, courage, respect, honesty,

loyalty, compassion, and integrity—all of which feel so

very close to us and such, have influenced our

own manifesto.

The daishō short and long swords are representative

of how we see business needs. Customers come to us with

short-term needs—these are real needs, but not a business’

only needs. We want to learn about their long-term

objectives to help plan for the future. We feel it is negligent

to create without understanding strategic brand needs.
