Graphing Independent and Dependent Variables

• Example 1:If we take an equation y = f(x) = In x, i.e. y depends on x. if we take different differentvalues of x

then we find some different values of y.

x = 1 then y = In 1 = 0, x = 2 then y = 0.693

x = 3 then y = 1.09, x = 5 then y = 1.60x = 7 then y = 1.945

Important:

• In Mathematics, independent variables are those values that determine the value of other variables. Dependent variables are those, whose values are determined with the help of the independent variable.
