Eligibility A citizen of Singapore can only renounce his Singapore citizenship if he or she is of or over the age of 21 years and has acquired citizenship of another country. Notes for completing the Renunciation of Singapore Citizenship application form a) Please fill in the application form. The application form may need approximately 30 minutes to complete. b) Your name to be written on the form should follow the Singapore Identity Card or Singapore Birth Certificate (if you were not issued with a Singapore Identity Card). c) To countersign next to any amendments if you have made on the form. Do not use correction fluid on the form. d) All the required documents must be submitted together with the completed application form. Incomplete documents may result in non-acceptance of the application. Statutory Declaration The Statutory Declaration has to be signed and duly notarized by a Notary Public, Justice of Peace or Commissioner for Oaths (with his/her Official Seal/ Stamp affixed / Appointment letter) or Consular Officer of Singapore. A citizen of Singapore can only renounce his Singapore citizenship if he or she is of or over the age of 21 years and

has acquired citizenship of another country.

Notes for completing the Renunciation of Singapore Citizenship application form

RENUNCIATION OF SINGAPORE CITIZENSHIP

1. National Service (NS) is vital to the defence and security of Singapore. Under the Enlistment Act, male Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents are liable for NS.

2. We would like to inform you that under Article 128(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, the Government may withhold a person’s application for renunciation of Singapore citizenship if he is subjected to the Enlistment Act and has not discharged his NS liability.

3. Those who are allowed to renounce their Singapore citizenship without serving NS will face serious adverse consequences in their immediate or future applications to work, study or live in Singapore. They will not be granted Permanent Resident status or citizenship in the future.
