Making things
Before making an object in the workshop it is very important to know what pieces or parts it has:
1st - We will make those pieces one by one
2nd - We will assemble all the parts together, using:
Glue, nails, screws, …
![Page 3: Exploded drawings and developments](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/5559d2a0d8b42a98208b4c6a/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Exploded viewsAn exploded view of an object is a drawing of every piece in the object
![Page 4: Exploded drawings and developments](https://reader035.vdocument.in/reader035/viewer/2022062307/5559d2a0d8b42a98208b4c6a/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)

It is very important to indicate all the measurements of every piece, so we can make them later with the real materials.

The plywood used to make the piece 1 is 3 mm thick
All the bars in the handrail are 5x10 mm

Activity 3a) Draw all the pieces of the following object using the

Activity 4 (Homework)

SURFACE DEVELOPMENTS
If the object is made of only one piece of material that is folded, it is more useful to: Draw the complete surface unfolded Use lines to show where to fold
Flaps are used to glue the different sides together
Very useful with objects made of paper, cardboard, sheets of plastic or metal, …
