Los Rios Historic District The Los Rios Historic District is the oldest neighborhood in California. Large trees were used here to define property boundaries for early settlements. The history of Los Rios St. is closely tied to the Mission; some homes are over 200 years old. San Juan Capistrano Mission The seventh mission founded Nov.1, 1776, by Father Junipero Serra, and named for St. John of Capistrano, Italy. The mission’s most famous residents are thousands of cliff swallows. Arriving in March, and leaving in mid-October, these special birds stop here to raise their young during their migration to Argentina. Bike Safe!Proceed through streets and intersections carefully.

Be courteous of pedestrians. Don’t forget to take water and sunscreen.

For safety and comfort, wear your helmet and comfortable clothing. Obey all laws...Enjoy!

Turn Right on Los Rios Street.

Exit Los Rios Street left onto the cobblestone walkway through Verdugo Crossing. Proceed through the train track crossing with caution, exit Capistrano Depot and continue straight onto Verdugo St.

Turn left onto Camino Capistrano.

Turn right onto Ortega Hwy.

Turn right on Rancho Viejo.

Turn left on Calle Arroyo, rejoining the San Juan Creek Trail on the right side of the street.

After crossing the Calle Arroyo and La Novia Ave. intersection, turn right on La Novia, then immediate left onto the bike path adjacent to parking lot.

Stay straight on the bike path until it ends at Avenida Siega, keeping right at forks.

Turn around and return on the San Juan Creek Trail via Calle Arroyo, following the bike path and turning left onto Paseo Tirador.

As Paseo Tirador ends, keep right, rejoining San Juan Creek Trail, and continue under Highway 5, Camino Capistrano, and train overpasses.

The trail crosses an iron foot bridge. Turn left after exiting the bridge onto San Juan Creek Trail and follow it back to Wheel Fun Rentals!

Exit Wheel Fun Rentals to the left (facing away from kiosk), proceeding onto the beach front path.

Turn left at the end of the path to join the San Juan Creek Trail.

After Alipaz St. begins, parallel to the San Juan Creek Trail, exit at the first path outlet to the left, continuing straight until the path joins with Alipaz St.

Turn right onto Del Obispo Rd. over the Trabuco Creek Bridge.

Turn left onto Paseo Adelanto.

Turn right on Ramos St.
