Standard Groups

Nielsen provides standard groups you can use as reporting criteria on your Galaxy Explorer reports.

To make building requests more flexible, Galaxy Explorer lets you select predefined criteria groups that are stored separately from your requests. You can create these groups yourself or you can select from a standard set of groups provided with the Galaxy Explorer software.

The next several pages list the Galaxy Explorer standard groups and their contents. There are four types of standard groups:

• Dayparts• Demographics• Statistics• Type Codes

Galaxy Explorer Report Templates

Galaxy Explorer includes a set of templates to assist you in building requests for some of the more common reports. The Three Section Overnight Report Template is a combination of the Half-Hour Report, the HUT/PUT Report, and the Total Program by Daypart Report. You submit the Three Section Overnight Report from the Overnights tab of the Scheduler window (see Scheduling Overnights Requests in the online Help for details).

The templates are model requests that include pre-defined formatting selections based on the type of report it is designed to generate. Galaxy Explorer includes a variety of templates for requesting reports with program data, timeperiod data, or a combination of program and timeperiod data (often referred to as a hybrid report).

Each downloaded report comes with a boilerplate. The boilerplate contains information about the report including its formatting, criteria, and an explanation of the symbols used in the report.

To use a template, you simply select it from the Template drop-down list on the request window. The formatting selections defined for that template display on the Format tab and all required selections are shown in bold on the Groups tab. Complete the selections to suit your needs.

This section describes the standard templates and provides a sample report for each.

Viewing Types and Reporting Options

Galaxy Explorer delivers live and time-shifted viewing data with several viewing types.

The following viewing types are availbalbe for selection:

Note These viewing types are selected from the Statistics window.

Viewing Type Definition

Live Households tuning or Persons viewing a program or time period of a specific station or cable network, including VCR record, at the actual time the show was telecast. Any use of the DVR to time shift content (regardless of how small the delay) will cause that tuning to be excluded from the Live estimates.

Live Plus Same Day (Live+SD)

Households tuning or Persons viewing a program or time period of a specific station or cable network, including VCR record, at the actual time the show was telecast, and any DVR playback tuning/viewing in the same processing day to a pre-recorded program or time period that is shifted 'back' to original telecast time. The processing day is the same collection day used for daily processing; however, this will also include some households that are in different time zones than the market with which they are collected. As a result, data for some homes may be collected at 2:00 a.m. instead of 3:00 a.m. local time.

Live Plus Seven Days (Live+7)

Households tuning or Persons viewing a program or time period of a specific station or cable network, including VCR record, at the actual time the show was telecast, and any DVR playback tuning/viewing within 7 days (168 hours) to a pre-recorded program or time period that is shifted 'back' to original telecast time.

Reporting Option Definition

Most Current (MC) The latest data available, crossing viewing types, if necessary, based on the measurement interval selected. For example, selecting Most Current data for a measurement interval that is incomplete for Live+7 results in an average of the Live+7 and Live+SD data that is available to date. When the data requested includes measurement periods prior to TSV implementation (December 26, 2005), Most Current will include a combination of Live (pre-TSV) data, Live+7, and Live+SD available to date.
