“Hi, I’m Juan Ponce de Leon. I was born on 1460 in Santervas, Spain.

I was born to a noble family, but they were very poor. So I chose military as a way to be successful. While I was working as a soldier, I heard about Christopher Columbus’s expedition. Inspired by this, I changed my job to explorer and joined Columbus’s second expedition.

After participating in Columbus’s second expedition, I didn’t return to Spain and settled in ‘Santo Domingo’ as a governor. However, I was deprived my position sent back to Spain due to the brutality to the neighbor island.

Supported by Spanish nobility, I was told to take the island of ‘Bimini’ in the Bahamas to search for riches and the fountain of youth. During this expedition, I discovered the Gulf Stream, which greatly helped to speed up sea travel in the Atlantic Ocean. I was the first explorer who landed in Florida and named Florida. There is a statue of me located in St. Augustine, Florida, USA. And there is also a holiday to celebrate me, which is Pascua Florida Day on April 2, which is a legal holiday in Florida.

After I completed my expedition and on the way back to Spain, there had been a fight between explorers and Native American. I was killed during the fight by poison arrow.

When you think of me, remember as a person who discovered the Gulf stream and found the Florida.

Now I have time for two questions:
