any property from being increased by more then 18% per year

After Hurricane Sandy hit New York in the fall of 2012, Senator Schumer was quoted as saying that he wanted to improve the process of rebuilding homes and not burden people with soaring insurance premiums.

Passed Senate 64-32 Nov. 7, 2013 Senator Schumer voted for it Would prohibit an employer from

discriminating against, failing to hire or discharging any individual for sexual orientation or gender identity

Senator Schumer has been a large proponent for gay rights and fully supports same sex marriage as well. Many of his constituents are affected by this bill due to the sheer size of New York City’s gay population.
