EXPO Milano 2015 – IPC Global Event: Chronic Food Insecurity and Nutrition Classifications – Learning from country application – May 20, 2015 - 8:30-18:30 - Auditorium Meeting room Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC) Ispra, Italy The 2015 Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Global Event, co-organised by DG DEVCO and the JRC at the JRC Ispra site in the context of EXPO Milan 2015 aims to raise awareness on IPC, present key scientific outputs, get feedback from policy makers on innovations for chronic food insecurity and nutrition classification, and showcase the link between IPC and decision-making. Participants will include representatives of global IPC stakeholders, partners and donor agencies, regional inter-government bodies, and government representatives from the countries that have applied new IPC tools and procedures to classify chronic food insecurity and nutrition: Opening and remarks by Representatives of EU Commissioner General for Expo 2015, DG DEVCO, DFID and USAID; Presentations of results and Panel Discussion on Country Perspectives and Plans by Representatives of Bangladesh, El Salvador, Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, South Sudan and Uganda; Panel discussion on Regional Perspectives and Plans by Representatives of Regional-Intergovernmental Bodies: CILSS, IGAD, SAARC, and SICA. The annual IPC Global Event is organized by the IPC Global Steering Committee Partners through the IPC Global Support Unit (GSU) which is hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO).
