1. Identify and read the Power or Product.

2. Identify the base and exponent.

3. What does the power or product mean?

1. When no exponent is given, it is understood to be 1.

2. Any number raised to the power of 1 will always equal the number itself.

3. Any number raised to the power of 0 (except for 0) will always equal 1.
