WATERMARK RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES CALENDAR

CELEBRATING ACTIVE AGING AND THE ARTS

Discover“There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no

tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow.”

– Orison Swett Marden

Dear Friends of Watermark:

Last year when I sat down to write an enthusiastic welcome to

2020, little did I know that a pandemic would shortly bring the world

to its knees. We learned that caring for and about one another is

humanity’s highest calling; life itself is more precious than its many

trappings; nothing can bring joy like friends and family; and during

the darkest days, hope sustains us.

As we ring out 2020, I tip my hat to every one of my colleagues for

doing everything possible to ensure our Watermark family is, now

and forever, safe, supported and loved. Creativity doesn’t always

come from a paintbrush. Even when the going gets tough, Watermark

continues to create extraordinary and innovative communities where

people thrive. The momentum we’ve created is unstoppable.

May the coming year bring good health and blessings to one and all.

There’s Always HopeGood news stories rarely make headlines, but at Watermark, such stories are unveiled every day.

At the height of the 2020 pandemic, Eddie was riding his bike in his eighth-floor apartment when he got a FaceTime call from his son, Alex, who said, “Papa, take a look outside”

“And then I’m looking outside and he had this incredible piece of art that he created on a fence. It spelled ‘HOPE’. It was just the most beautiful thing I had ever seen at one of the most difficult times we’ve ever had. It warmed my heart and I was so happy to see it. And people would come by, they’d stop, they’d take a picture of it. It still brings a smile to my face.”

– Eddie Schechter, a Watermark resident

CREATING HER OWN FUTURE

In the time she used to spend cooking, cleaning and shopping, Elaine is now painting prolifically and she has even taught Watermark University painting classes to 17 of her neighbors.

“I feel safe. I know that when I go to bed at night, I don’t have anything to worry about, and during the day, I have people to talk to. I’m thrilled to be here.”
