In this square, known as Plaza deCorreos, is the main post ofce in amagnificent newly renovated modern

building that has been returned to itsormer splendour.

The Gabriel Mir Square, named inhonour o the illustrious Alicante writerGabriel Mir, is located in a strategic andcentral place in Alicante, close to themain shopping area o Alicante and veryclose to the old town.

Leay hundred-year-old ficus trees wel-come the visitor, and convert this squareinto a privileged area within the city.

The adjacent San Fernando Street and

the Esplanade were land reclaimed romthe sea using the destroyed remains othe ancient walls o Alicante and thecurrent Plaza de Gabriel Mir waspreviously called Plaza de las Barcas,because boats became stranded there

and this is where they were tarred whichmeans filling the joints o the hulls o theboats with oakum and tar to prevent en-try o water. Later it was called Plaza deIsabel II. It was transormed into a saltwarehouse that was located in the prisono the Kings House and later became thepost and telegraph ofce.

At the end o the 19th century on 16thOctober 1898 a circular pool was openedwith a pump celebrating the arrival o

water channelled to the city rom Sax.In 1918, this pump was replaced by thecurrent ountain with the sculpture o thewater carrier. This being the work o thesculptor Vicente Bauls, also known asthe girl with the pitcher and this was also

used or the neighbouring model by Su-sana Llaneras. In this majestic sculptureflanked by a ountain, it is possible to ap-preciate the figure o a standing woman,serving water rom a pitcher that allsdown straight onto the figure o a aun.This composition is completed by otherorms; or example a diabolical animal ora Silenos with the tail o a fish that holdswith one o its hands a goose that fightsto get away rom him.

Ann stelde haar menu op 21 januari 2013voor aan pers en publiek en ging daarbijte werk met enkele innovatieve, ver-rassende producten die stuk voor stukmeer dan de moeite waard zijn.

Ann De Roy is 36 jaar en heet 2 jongekinderen. Ze heet haar gezinslevensteeds weten te combineren met haarrestaurant en werkt de klok rond samenmet haar man Pieter, die de zaal voorzijn rekening neemt. Onze loopbaanwas zeker niet vanzelsprekend. Mijnman is ingenieur van opleiding en ik benagestudeerd als grafisch vormgeester.Maar lekker eten en koken is een echtepassie die wij samen ontdekt hebben.

We hebben het geluk gehad dat onzedroom van een eigen restaurant werkeli-

con el apoyo de las autoridades del

Parque Marino. El objetivo es garan-

tizar la continuidad de este ecosiste-

ma mediante la identificacin de susnidos, la no intererencia en el proceso

de puesta y educar a los huspedes

en la actitud que deben adoptar rente

a las tortugas. Gracias a esta iniciativa,

el nmero de tortugas que acuden a la

isla durante la puesta se ha ido incre-

mentado cada ao.

the most beautiul marine parks in the Indian Ocean created by the Government
