Students started a new unit in Reading Wonders on How Families and Friends help each other. We made a word web and have started reading a variety of realistic fiction and informational texts relating to the theme. Students are practicing ways they can be a dependable and kind friend.

Last month, the MCIU classrooms at Evans gathered for a Thanksgiving luncheon! Staff and students enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving meal and students enjoyed the feast and playing games with one another after.

With the colder weather approaching we have been finding new and fun ways to implement movement breaks and opportunities in the classroom. This week the students had a blast having an indoor “snowball fight.”

Room 115 at Evans Elementary rang in the New Year with a new teacher, Mrs. Julie Ortlieb! Mrs. Ortlieb enjoyed getting to know the students and having fun with New Year’s activities like painting fireworks and practicing 2020 using AT, bingo dabbers, and confetti. They also explored the topic of plants and gardening. The students enjoyed a fun book called “Secrets of the Apple Tree” in which you shine a flashlight behind each page to reveal a surprise! Then we sorted red & green apples (ping pong balls) into red & green “trees.”

Mrs. Lynch’s class had fun getting their pictures taken and painting snow scenes (making snowflakes out of their fingerprints) for snow globe decorations! The best part? All the glitter! They sparkled for weeks!
