SWOT Analisys STRONG POINTS WEEK POINTS
Permanent and regular organization of the exchange of information between the members and the decision makers in the cluster;
Intelligent mechatronic products are identified;
Optimal training environment for consortia; Develop cluster promotion on new
international platform structures The development of value chains for the
launching and realization of joint projects and products;
The existence of a brand (SMART MECHATRON);
Positioning of the cluster in the Bucharest - Ilfov region (moderate innovation according to the Innovation Scoreboard as compared to the modest innovation position in the country as a whole), a relatively developed region for mechatronics:
Specialized human resources Possibility to promote, through cluster force,
developed products;
Lack of packages of activities focused on the common objectives of the cluster;
Lack of a newsletter specializing in collaborative opportunities of the cluster;
Poor organization of cooperation between interested entities (including those outside the cluster);
Reduced, first and foremost, financial opportunities to develop new, innovative products;
Insufficient infrastructure to create a coherent schooling system;
Administrative and financial difficulties in patenting innovative solutions;
Small number SME productive in the field, with R&D activities;
Cluster emerging with insufficient visibility at national level;
Poor visibility of SMEs capable of absorbing technology transfer from the cluster;
SWOT Analysis
OPPORTUNITIES THREATS Sustainable development of inter-relationship
between cluster members; International cluster promotion; Big volume of project ideas Supporting investment in innovative solutions; Support from Romanian diaspora working in
universities and in the technical environment; Clustering tendency by regions and inclusion in
regional development strategies Supporting government and local authorities Reuniting innovative, forward-looking areas and
in agreement with the EU; A common future strategy; The possibility of collaboration between
members for carrying out national and international projects and the execution of complex works;
Developing the field of mechatronics through the exchange of experience and good practices;
Develop collaboration between SMEs, research institutes, universities, administrative units;
Collaboration with other national and international clusters;
Legislative changes in short periods of time with unfavourable effects to predict the development of cluster members;
The sharp decrease and even the lack of budgetary and private equity funds for clusters;
The lack of brain-drain (migration of labour); Fluctuations in the exchange rate make
prices unpredictable for importers and exporters;
The lack of culture of continuous training; Insufficient funding for research, but also a
diminution of the allocated amounts along the way
Low predictability of economic and financial evolution;
Different value chains, whose interests need to be uniform;
The instability of the political and economic environment.

• Through national R & D programs funded from the public budget.
• Through regional development programs funded with structural funds.
• By using the financial resources of the cluster members.
Projects Proponsed for Funding
• Projects proposed for funding are projects from SMEs and cluster research organizations – identifying possible development projects – the internal and international consistency of the submitted
projects – the consistency of the projects with the cluster development
strategy, the national and European strategy – the justification for choosing the list of proposed projects to be
financed.
• General conditions for accepting / selecting / promoting projects – to have a profoundly innovative character; – to have a higher degree of originality; – to have a generalized cluster and regional character; – to target applicability by transferring results to SMEs;
