DENTAL COUNCIL OF INDIA

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 3rd October, 2017

No. DE-22(12)-2017.— In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Dental Council of India under Section 20

of the Dentists Act, 1948, the Dental Council of India, with the previous sanction of the Central Government, hereby

makes the following Amendment to the existing Principle “DCI (Establishment of New Opening of New Dental

College, Opening of New or Higher Course of Study or Training and Increase of Admission Capacity in Dental

Colleges) Regulations, 2006”, published in Part III, Section 4 of the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, dated 12.01.2006

namely: —

1. Short title and Commencement: —

(i) These Regulations may be called the “Dental Council of India (Establishment of New Opening of

New Dental College, Opening of New or Higher Course of Study or Training and Increase of Admission

Capacity in Dental Colleges) (12th

Amendment) Regulations, 2017.”

(ii) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In “DCI (Establishment of New Opening of New Dental College, Opening of New or Higher Course of Study

or Training and Increase of Admission Capacity in Dental Colleges) Regulations, 2006”, published in Part III, Section 4

of the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, dated 12.01.2006”, the following shall be deleted against point 13 (b) of the

Qualifying Criteria as indicated therein:-

“the certificate regarding desirability and feasibility for starting a new or

higher course of study or training at the dental college has been obtained

by the college from the State Government or the Union Territory

administration, as the case may be;”

3. In the “Dental Council of India (Establishment of New Opening of New Dental College, Opening of New

Higher Course of Study or Training and Increase of Admission Capacity in Dental Colleges) Regulations, 2006”, the

existing proviso of regulation 19 clause (c) be substituted with the following proviso, as under: —

“(c) the certificate regarding feasibility and desirability for increasing admission

capacity at the dental college has been obtained by the applicant from the

State Government or the Union territory administration, as the case may be;

the same is not required for increasing admission capacity in post-graduate

course/s”
