ACEP SEC Educational Conference June 5-8, 2017AGEndA SEC CONFERENCE – This activity is designed to provide an update of current care of the special
populations of patients and conditions that are encountered in the emergency department and in the pre-hospital setting. Populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetrical will be highlighted.
TARGET AUDIENCE – the subject matter is designed for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants engaged in the practice of emergency medicine.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES – Upon completion of this activity the participant will be able to formulate a management plan for many commonly encountered conditions in less commonly encountered patient populations, including pediatric, geriatric, and gravid patients; differentiate between evidence based recommendations and common practices as it relates to commonly encountered traumatic conditions; select appropriate treatment options based on published practice guidelines and clinical research; and, incorporate recommended therapeutic interventions into daily practice of caring for the pediatric, geriatric, or pregnant patient.
AMA CREDIT DESIGNATION: The University of Tennessee College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Thrombosis: AFib & DVT/PE: An Exploration in Risk ReductionThis program will look at novel therapy for risk reduction in patients with Non-valvular Atrial Fibrillation, Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism. The impact that thrombosis has on hospitalization and length of stay will also be discussed. This non-CME program will be held on Tuesday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Lunch will be provided.
