Objectives
Maintain a database of interested persons and target users:
- for use in electronic news service
- targeted information, where appropriate
This task also includes the e-mail enquiry service
Starting point - the EXTRA database:- 9130 entries
- 2291 (25%) have e-mail addresses
Delivery and maintenance of database
Use only entries with e-mail addresses
Broaden with:
- Network contacts (national and European/ international networks)
- European Commission & Parliament e-mail addresses
- Transport journalist database
- Contacts from events (e.g. Barcelona)
- Completion by Benchmark Group (and subcontractors for countries not represented)
- Persons using the e-mail enquiry service (“opt-in” service)

Structure to remain essentially the same as in the EXTRA database
Full address information will be retained for reference, but communication would normally be by e-mail only

Simplification needed: 19 categories to be reduced to 3 for “organisation type”:
- Government or public authority
- Company (either public or private)
- Other, e.g. academic or research organisation, interest group, individuals, etc
… and 3 for “function”:
- Technically oriented, policy oriented, or both
More precise categories can be asked in evaluation questionnaires
