To access the system, you will need to input the Master User Code (shown below) on your control panel when prompted. After initial set-up is complete, you can change the Master User Code at any time, or add additional codes for your friends and family who may need access. This is the code you will use whenever you need to arm or disarm the system.

Setting up the control panel requires an Installer Code, which is different from your Master User Code. This is to prevent changes from being made to the system by mistake. When the panel prompts you for an Installer Code, input 1111 (this is the preset Installer Code). This can be changed by using the same method as the Master User Code (listed below) and selecting Installer as the code to edit.

The Username and Password (shown below) allow you to access to your system remotely using the Alarm.com app. The app will allow you to monitor and control your system from anywhere using your smartphone, computer or tablet.

Control PanelPlace your control panel in a high- traffic area near an electrical outlet that is not controlled by a switch. Consider placing the panel near the front or back door, or in a foyer near the most commonly used exit and entrance.

Door and Window Sensor (3 door/window sensors included)

Motion Sensor (1 motion sensor included)

Monitored Smoke Detector (1 smoke detector included)

Your wireless devices communicate with your control panel and should be located within 100’ of the panel.

STEP 1: Plan Your LocationsThe control panel is the heart of your system. Place it in a central location near an outlet, but not near a window where an intruder might easily see it.

Page 7: EZ Set-up - livsecure.com · Your door and window sensors are defaulted to Door 1, Door 2 and Door 3. If you choose to use these sensors on windows rather than doors, you can easily

5

Door and Window Sensor Start with first floor entry/exit doors, as these are the most attractive targets for burglars. Next, place sensors on first floor or ground floor accessible windows.

Motion Sensor Place at least six feet high on the wall. Corners—above doors and pointed away from windows—are excellent spots. Avoid ceiling fans and HVAC ducts which could set off your alarm if your sensor is armed.

One motion sensor is included with all LivSecure packages. Additional sensors may be purchased.

One smoke detector is included with all LivSecure packages. Additional smoke

detectors may be purchased.

Monitored Smoke Detector Place in a centrally located hallway, on a ceiling far away from corners. Checklocal codes for wall installation. If you have a multi-level home, consider ordering additional smoke detectors for each floor of your home.

TIP: It may take a few minutes for your control panel to fully power up. This is an ideal time to double checkthe locations you’ve chosen for your sensors and write them down, in case you need to refer to the list later.

STEP 2: Set Up Your Control Panel

FPOAttach table stand to control panel

by turning control panel face down, and sliding power cord into

notch on bottom of stand.

Hold the cord in place, line up the pegs on the stand with

the holes on the back of the panel, and slide into place.

Place control panelin desired location.

Plug it in and get ready to connect your system.

Sensors come paired with the control panel right out of the box.All of the sensors included in this package (door and window, motion, smoke detector) are numbered, labeled with their corresponding names, and have already been paired with your control panel.

Your door and window sensors are defaulted to Door 1, Door 2 and Door 3. If you choose to use these sensors on windows rather than doors, you can easily customize them in the control panel.

Once you have set up your sensors, you can rename them in the control panel to reflect their location.

To customize the settings of your sensors from your control panel:

Edit a sensor by choosing a name from the list on the drop down, or customize your own. Make any changes you like and click “save” to exit.

The sensor and magnet must be placed no more than 1/4 inch apart in order to function properly. To ensure a sensor is positioned correctly, before sticking the (smaller) magnet portion of the sensor in place with the double sided tape, hold it in place and open and close the window or door. If the sensor is placed appropriately, you should hear the control panel announcing the sensor as opened or closed.

Repeat these steps to set up any remaining door and window sensors.

TIP:

Push tab to opensensor cover.

Removebattery tabs.

Choose recommended adhesive strips

or optional hardwarefor mounting.

Align and secure the sensor and magnet by using the inner markings on

the sensor and magnet to form a diamond shape. The smaller component is the magnet.

Place sensor on the inside frame, and themagnet on the inside edge of the door or window. When they separate, the system

knows the door or window is open.

For proper function and coverage, the little red light should be at the top once mounted. The motion sensor is ideal for a room with many windows so you don’t need to install separate sensors on every window. Ideally, you want to mount the motion sensor in a corner or on the wall, not directly across from windows as sunlight through windows can affect performance. If mounting in a corner, cut the double-sided tape in two pieces and place on each side of the sensor mounting plate where it will touch the wall.

If you decide to add more sensors to your system (door and window sensors, motion sensors or smoke detectors), pairing them with your control panel is easy. Just follow the steps below to put the control panel in AUTOLEARN SENSOR mode.

Once the control panel is in AUTOLEARN SENSOR mode, simply go back to the sensor you just installed and “tamper” it so that the panel will find it and automatically determine what kind of sensor it is. You can tamper the sensor by opening the casing, or for the smoke detector, press and release the black tamper switch. The panel will chime and a message will appear asking you to confirm the addition of a new sensor. Touch OK. Select custom device settings. Touch ADD.

NOTE: You will see a drop down menu appear for each sensor. You can name that sensor by using the menu to select a name that fits best. For example, Front Door, Back Door, etc. You can even select and type in a customized name. Test sensor by following instructions above to ensure proper function.
