Though we can’t quan- fy it, I believe 2014 will reflect that our people invited more people than ever to Christ and to church. It’s been quite a year. And while it was a year of welcoming many new people into our church family, it was a year of saying “ll we meet again” to faithful members who headed on to heaven. Who knows what 2015 will hold? We make plans. There are mission trips, service projects, clas- ses, and other things on the board, but God may have other plans. As someone wisely said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” That’s part of what makes church a great adven- ture—following a God who may lead us in ways we didn’t ancipate and do things among us we’d have never imagined. What will God do among us in 2015? In the meanme, we’ll be faithful to sck to our kning and do the things we believe God has led us to. In January that means we’re studying the book I Am A Church Member. Reports from Con- nect Groups this past Sunday are encouraging. And in worship we’re dealing with larger, sweeping maers of what it means to be church. This Sunday we’re thinking about community, fellowship, Three Musketeer Church—all for one and one for all. See you Sunday as we connue learning what it means to be church and to be a church member. As we begin 2015, we do well to reflect on 2014—a year that brought changes, challenges, and blessings to First Baptist Church. So in no particular order, it’s time to give thanks for the addition of a second Sunday School and the volunteers needed to make it happen; the highest average attendances in our history, nu-merous first-timers involved in mission trips, projects, and activities, a subscribed

budget and goals achieved in mission offerings, many people growing in their faith through small groups and service projects, numerous salvations and baptisms, alteration to our worship formats, creating opportunities for people to worship in different worship languages, a full house on Christ-mas Eve and a full house on the one service the last Sunday in December. Though we can’t quanti-fy it, I believe 2014 will reflect that our people invited more people than ever to Christ and to church. It’s been quite a year.

And while it was a year of welcoming many new people into our church family, it was a year of saying “till we meet again” to faithful members who headed on to heaven. We will miss their presence, example, and influence among us. But we are better for having had them among us and the ripple effects of their lives will continue to be evidenced among us in days ahead.

Who knows what 2015 will hold? We make plans. There are mission trips, service projects, clas-ses, and other things on the board, but God may have other plans. As someone wisely said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” That’s part of what makes church a great adven-ture—following a God who may lead us in ways we didn’t anticipate and do things among us we’d have never imagined. What will God do among us in 2015?

In the meantime, we’ll be faithful to stick to our knitting and do the things we believe God has led us to. In January that means we’re studying the book I Am A Church Member. Reports from Con-nect Groups this past Sunday are encouraging. And in worship we’re dealing with larger, sweeping matters of what it means to be church. This Sunday we’re thinking about community, fellowship, Three Musketeer Church—all for one and one for all. See you Sunday as we continue learning what it means to be church and to be a church member.
