COMPLIANCE FILING OFPACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY

This Notice is provided in compliance with California Public Utilities Commission

Decision 11-07-004, Ordering Paragraph 1.a. That Decision ordered PG&E to offer maps to

each fire department or agency in PG&E’s service territory providing details of the gas

transmission lines, gas storage facilities, and the associated shut-off valves that are located in the

jurisdiction of each particular fire department or agency. The maps are to be in a print format,

and/or in a digital format that fire departments and agencies can use or access as an on-line

resource.

The Decision also ordered that, by July 29, 2011, PG&E was to notify all of the fire

departments and agencies in its service territory by mail that PG&E is obligated by the Decision

to provide the maps to each fire department or agency upon request, that PG&E will meet with

them to discuss the maps, and that PG&E will provide future training on responding to a natural

gas leak or fire.

In Ordering Paragraph 1.a.(2), the Decision states that:

By August 26, 2011, PG&E shall file and serve a notice in this proceeding that it has mailed such letters to all the affected fire departments and agencies, and a list of those departments, agencies and names shall be attached to the notice.

This Notice is filed and served in compliance with California Public Utilities

Commission Decision 11-07-004, Ordering Paragraph 1.a(2). Attached please find:

1. a copy of the letter sent on July 29, 2011 to fire departments and agencies,1

2. the list of fire departments and agencies, including names, to which the letter was

sent and,

3. Declaration of Mailing of Joel L. Dickson that the letters were sent on July 29,

2011.

1 PG&E’s original mailing was able to contact all but 8 out of 1705 fire departments or agencies. PG&E immediately further researched the names and addresses of the 8 returned letters and was subsequently able to contact by mail those 8 fire departments and agencies.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) highest responsibility is the safety of our operations. As part of this responsibility, PG&E is taking steps to enhance public safety partnerships with the first responders who help keep communities safe.

PG&E works closely with first responders and local agencies to make sure they have the information needed to protect themselves and the public in the event of a utility-related emergency. PG&E provides, at no charge, maps of its gas transmission lines, gas storage facilities, and associated shut-off valves located in the jurisdiction of each fire department or agency in the PG&E service territory. PG&E is available to meet and discuss these materials upon request. The availability of this information is a requirement of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

In addition, at the direction of the CPUC, PG&E is creating new resources as part of our effort to enhance public safety partnerships. On August 13, 2011, PG&E plans to make available a First Responder Portal (www.pge.com/firstresponder). Through a secure Portal, first responder agencies may obtain maps in printable Adobe Reader (PDF) format and/or digital mapping files suitable for downloading into industry standard Geographic Information System (GIS) application software.

PG&E is also providing free training on preparations for and response to a natural gas leak or fire. This training will be available to emergency responders and agency personnel beginning in the Fall of 2011. PG&E will let you know the dates and locations of training classes when they become available.
