From 1 January 2017 all sheep and goats born in Victoria MUST be tagged with an electronic NLIS (sheep) tag before being dispatched to a saleyard, abattoir, or another property with a different PIC . Producers tagging sheep and goats born prior to 1 January 2017 can either use a visually readable NLIS (sheep) tag, or an electronic NLIS (sheep) tag.

If your sheep are ovine johnes disease (OJD) vaccinated or terminal lambs please select the appropriate OJD status to be printed. You must select OJD status of V if your sheep have been OJD vaccinated. OJD status of T indicates that your sheep are Terminal (crossbred) lambs from an OJD affected flock. If you leave this section blank no OJD status will be printed.

COST NEUTRAL TAGS FOR SHEEP AND GOATS BORN IN 2017Electronic NLIS (Sheep) tags for the identification of lambs and kids born in Victoria in 2017 are available from Agriculture Victoria at 'cost neutral' prices. The cheapest 'cost neutral' electronic tag is available for $0.35 per tag.

The following limits are in place on a producer's 'cost neutral' tag purchases; A producer for a particular PIC is only permitted to purchase the equivalent of their NLIS (Sheep) visual and

electronic tag purchased for that PIC between 1 NOVEMBER 2015 and 31 OCTOBER 2016, plus an additional 10 per cent above this number. APPLICATIONS LODGED WITH AGRICULTURE VICTORIA THAT EXCEED THE ELIGIBLE COST NEUTRAL QUANTITY WILL BE RETURNED TO THE APPLICANT FOR RESUBMISSION.

The only electronic NLIS (Sheep) tags that can be purchased at 'cost neutral' prices are white tags (white is the 2017 'year of birth' colour) and pink Post-breeder tags (pink tags are used to identify sheep and goats that are introduced onto a property and lose their tags). For further information on tag use, visit agriculture.vic.gov.au.

If any person provides false or incorrect information in their application they may be deemed ineligible for any future or additional subsidised electronic tags, and/or Agriculture Victoria may recover the value of subsidies invalidly obtained.

To be eligible for cost neutral (subsidised) tags you MUST supply the information requested in the table below for visual and electronic tags purchased between 1 NOVEMBER 2015 and 31 OCTOBER 2016 (please attach a second sheet if necessary) AND complete the statement below.
