Activity 7 - Writing Assignment
When I was a child
Sometimes, I think about many things I used to do when I was a child. They are
beautiful memories, of course and I miss those years. Those years that the only
thing I used to do was to be very happy and enjoy every second without problems
and doing things that I can't do now because of the responsibility, and sometimes
due to the fear.
When you are a child, you have no complications, no fear and no responsibility. I
remember that I used to play soccer with my friends. I always spent the holidays
at my grandmother´s house. Every night, I use to read a book of short stories.
I used to ride bicycle. When I fell down, I always had my parents saying to me:
You have to be more careful! But they healed my injuries. Now it isn't the same.

I'm not a child, so I mustn't behave like a child, I have to heal my injuries and I
can't press my mum's hand if 'Isodine' itches on my injuries.
Also, I remember that I used to paint on the floor and my mother said to me while
she was laughing: You're terrible! I had many hobbies, but now I have no time.
But I can't complain about my life. I have learnt that the good old days are now
because it's great as a child to have no responsibility but it's confusing to not
understand anything, it's annoying to be denied experiences because of your age,
it's dangerous to be so small and fragile and a lot of childhood seems to be spent
trying to grow up.
It's great as an adult to have so much open to you, to appreciate the value of
time, yet often adults lose that childish curiosity and acceptance, much of
adulthood is spent remembering about the past. Even though I do know one thing
for sure, being a child or being an adult, are stages that are part of life, and have
advantages and disadvantages but I am sure beat being an adolescent. That’s
another story, because puberty is hell.
