Area Affected: Northern islands of Japan

Primary effects: Flooding, landslides, fires, building and infrastructure damage,nuclear incidents including radiation released. Poisoning of lands and animal products caused by broken swages and under control of radiation plants Secondary effects:: Tsunami wave up to 40.5 m in Miyako, Iwate, Tōhoku.

Magnitude of Quake: 8.9

Caused by: Subduction in plates. The release of accumulated energy in branch.

Name of the plates: Pacific Platen and Okhotsk Plate

Number of causalities: 15,883 deaths,

6,145 injured,

2,671 people missing

Nuclear Danger update: The level 7 meltdowns at three reactors in the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant complex. Three nuclear reactors suffered explosions.
