Centriole just made some Cilia and Flagella!!!
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME!
MADE OF:
Nine bundles of microtubules (three per bundle) arranged in a ring.
FUNCTION:
Duplicates during mitosis in animal cells
Forms spindle apparatus during cell division
Makes cilia and flagella
Organizes the centrosome
MISCELLANEOUS:
Found only in animal cells, near the nucleus in the centrosome.
Plant cells are able to go through mitosis without centrioles.
Sperm cells contain a pair of centrioles; eggs have none.
They are found to be positioned at right angles to each other.
