I came to one of your Workshops with my mum – it was fantastic! It was brilliant to witness such a supportive group that wasn’t focused solely on illness but was about making people feel good about themselves. Mum left feeling more confident about using make-up throughout her treatment. Join me in raising funds and whatever you choose to do, you’ll help Look Good Feel Better to support more women, like my mum!

Thank youfrom all of us!Look Good Feel Better is the only worldwide cancer support charity dedicated to improving the self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing of people undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Finding out you have cancer can be daunting and life-changing and the added stress of appearance-related side effects of treatment can be debilitating and hard to cope with. This can have serious consequences on self-esteem and confidence at a time when a positive attitude is very important. It is our aim to improve self-image and appearance through our group workshops, offering skincare and make-up services.

Your fundraising is vitally needed to enable us to provide this support. This guide is full of inspiration and fundraising ideas, from hosting a pamper party for friends at home, organising a delicious bake sale for colleagues at work, or even testing your personal stamina with a local challenge event, together with information and advice to ensure your fundraising is a huge success. And our fundraising team is always on hand to offer further advice and support if you need it.

You can email [email protected], or call us on 01372 747 500. Alternatively, you can visit the fundraising pages on our website www.lgfb.co.uk.

You can enter as an individual or as part of a team, perhaps a group of friends or work colleagues. Our fundraising team will be on hand to support you from entry into your chosen event through to reaching your fundraising target. As a Look Good Feel Better challenge participant you will be supplied with our branded kit kindly sponsored by our challenge event sponsor Bannatyne Health Clubs and Spas.

Challengeyourself!Looking for more of a physical challenge? Whether you’re a complete novice looking to participate in your first challenge event, or an experienced competitor, we have challenge events suitable for all abilities. From runs, to treks, cycles to skydives, we can find an event suitable for you.

Taking part in the 10k run was a brilliant way for me to set myself a personal goal as well as show my support for Look Good Feel Better. I had never been into running before but knowing I was raising money for charity really motivated me in my training. When I told friends and family about my challenge, they were really supportive and gave generously to sponsor me. The atmosphere on event day was electric and it was fantastic to run alongside people who share in my passion for the charity. Pushing your boundaries can be exciting and knowing you’re raising funds for a charity which greatly benefits others is hugely rewarding.

As an extension of our fundraising team, Fundraising Champions will be our eyes and ears, helping to promote our key events and initiatives, and helping to identify local fundraising opportunities. This ranges from Charity of the Year opportunities with companies, social groups and organisations, to approaching and building relationships with beauty salons, nail bars and spas, encouraging them to support Look Good Feel Better.

Fundraising Champions can not only organise their own events, but will also support fundraising events taking place in their local community by helping to organise and promote them or by attending on behalf of Look Good Feel Better.

More detailed information on this voluntary role can be found on our website or you can give our fundraising team a call on 01372 747 500 for an informal chat.

Become a FundraisingChampion!Would you like to become a Look Good Feel Better volunteer but don’t have any beauty training? Why not become a Fundraising Champion to help raise funds and awareness for Look Good Feel Better in your local community, thereby enabling us to support more women at a crucial time during their cancer treatment.

As a Fundraising Champion I like meeting new people and raising awareness of Look Good Feel Better’s services in my local community. With the support from friends and colleagues, I have organised a number of successful events, including a jumble sale at my local community centre and a coffee morning with a mother and baby group. I’m passionate about raising funds and spreading the word about this amazing charity.

Charity of the Year Employee Team Building Cause Related Marketing

Payroll Giving

Aligning your brand or product with Look Good Feel Better is a beneficial way to demonstrate your support for women and teenagers living with cancer. We have experience of creating many successful Cause Related Marketing (CRM) campaigns with worldwide recognised brands.

Team building through fundraising is a great way to engage work colleagues, boost morale and learn new skills. Look Good Feel Better has created a number of innovative, fun and rewarding team building activities with our member companies and partner organisations, which have delivered tangible business benefits, as well raising funds for Look Good Feel Better.

We regularly hold charity days at work. This year we held a small fundraiser each day during Feel Better Week in June. We got other departments and sites involved, creating a bit of a competition and over the course of the week we raised over £500!

To explore how your company or local community group could support Look Good Feel Better, please email our fundraising team at [email protected] or call us on 01372 747500.

Payroll Giving is a very simple and convenient way of helping support Look Good Feel Better through your salary. Through payroll giving, employees can donate tax free and it’s simple because your employers take the deduction from your pay each month. If your company does not offer Payroll Giving it can register with an HMRC approved Payroll Giving Agency.

Maximiseyour fundraisingThere are a number of ways you can increase the amount you raise, with very little extra effort! Knowing how to get the best out of your fundraising activities can make a big difference to the final amount you donate. And of course every pound raised makes a big difference to those facing the visible side-effects of their cancer treatment.

Don’t do it alone. Ask friends, family or work colleagues to help you plan and organise your event. It will make it more fun and take some of the pressure off you.

Pick the right time to hold your event. Avoid bank holidays, or any major events happening in your area. Plan around them so you can ensure your event is well supported and you maximise funds raised.

Keep it simple. Don’t over complicate things. Be realistic about what you can achieve and make sure you have a good plan that everyone helping is aware of. Remember, it is often the simplest ideas that raise the most money.

Get support from local businesses. Ask them to provide products and services, saving you on your costs. We can provide you with a letter of authority to request support.

We love to hear what our fundraisers are planning and can often help in providing support and advice, as well as additional materials. So don’t forget to drop us a line in plenty of time.

Share your event by tagging us on social media. Facebook (@LookgoodfeelbetterUK), Twitter and Instagram (@LGFBUK). We can then share with all our followers and hopefully inspire them to get involved.

Flash, bang, what a picture! Don’t forget to take lots of pictures (the higher the resolution the better). We have a handy downloadable guide to taking great fundraising photos on our website.

Create posters and flyers to promote your event and ask local businesses and shops to display a poster in their window. Once they find out about Look Good Feel Better local services, they will be happy to help.

It’s important to make sure your fundraising is legal and safe for everyone involved. Visit the fundraising pages on our website for downloadable information about keeping it legal.

Don’t forget to thank all those involved in helping and supporting you.

Here are some top tips to ensure your fundraising is as successful and easy as possible.

Gift Aid If your donor is a UK taxpayer, they can Gift Aid their donation at no extra cost to themselves or you. The taxman will add 25% to their donation. If using an online fundraising site or one of our sponsorship forms (in the back of this pack), you need to ensure your donors tick the Gift Aid box and provide their full name, address and most importantly their postcode. Without this information, we can’t claim. If online, Gift Aid donations come to us automatically, if through offline sponsorship forms we send off and claim.

Company match funding Many companies now offer match funding. In many instances this can double the amount you have raised (although some companies will set a limit). Contact your HR department to find out if your employer offers such a scheme and remember its tax efficient for them too! Many banks will also support their customers fundraising with match giving. Check with your local branch to see if you are eligible. They might require a letter from us confirming the amount raised. Again, we can take care of this for you.

Shout about your event Don’t forget to publicise your event using the poster enclosed in this pack, encouraging your supporters to share and like your social media posts and engaging with your local media by using our downloadable press release template on our website. The more people who know about your event, the more it will be supported.

Set up an online fundraising page This is very easy and provides your donors with a safe and secure way of donating online. It also means you don’t have the time consuming task of collecting money long after your fundraising has finished. There are a number of online fundraising sites, however, the most popular is www.justgiving.com. You can explain your fundraising, set a target and donors can leave messages of support. Share your online donation page through your social media channels (and let us know too and we will do the same, where we can). For more advice about setting up an online page, call or email the fundraising team or visit our website.

The safest way to send cash donations is by taking it to your local Barclays Bank and paying it into our account using the paying in slip in this pack. If you don’t have a paying in slip use the details below and remember to put your initial and surname as the reference so we can see who the money has come from. It was nice to meet other women in my situation, to feel like a woman again and not just a cancer patient. By the end of the two hours, all the ladies looked beautiful and we all left feeling confident and with our heads held high for the first time in a long time. We have Look Good Feel Better to thank for that.
