The present edition provides an extensive summary of official statistical data and information about the university including student demographics, enrollment, retention, graduation, faculty and staff demographics, financial, support services, etc. This edition includes data for the 2015-16 fiscal and academic years and for comparative purposes, trend data is also provided.

Alcorn State University is a land-grant, residential University. It is one of eight state-assisted institutions of higher learning in the state of Mississippi.

LOCATION

The University is located in Claiborne County, Mississippi, five miles west of Lorman, 12 miles southwest of Port Gibson, and 40 miles south of Vicksburg, Mississippi. State Highway 552 forks off from U.S. Highway 61 one mile north of north of Lorman, Mississippi, and leads directly to the campus.

PHYSICAL FACILITIES

The University encompasses 1,756 acres, of which 300 acres make up the campus and athletic fields, and 1,456 acres are devoted to agriculture and research. Built on a gentle slope, the campus is carefully landscaped, carpeted with green grass, and surrounded by attractive shrubbery. Towering trees, many more than one hundred years old, distinctive with Spanish moss, shade the grounds and enhance the picturesque setting in which quiet study and worthy companionship are fostered. Like many of its buildings, the campus is old and mellowed by a tradition that lives in the hearts of all who come under its spell. Its charm cannot be

overlooked.
