We Are Carol Stream SeriesJanuary 5, 2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the Village of Carol Stream. In celebration, we are hosting a series of programs celebrating local history and your family history.

R: Photo ScanningTuesday, January 8, 10 a.m.-NoonWednesday, January 23, 1-3 p.m.Register for a 30 minute session by calling the Adult Services department at 630-344-6123.Bring up to 10 photos or other paper artifacts to the Library, and we will teach you how to use our SimpleScan station. You may choose to send your items to email, your smartphone, Google Docs, or a fax number, or you may save your images to a USB/flash drive. Items should be smaller than 11 by 17 inches. With your permission, we will share the scans with the Carol Stream Historical Society. Items that are copyrighted, such as professional photographs, will not be scanned unless written permission is obtained from the copyright holder.

The Carol Stream Public Library is offering adult learners a second chance to earn their high school diploma and become career-ready. With Career Online High School (COHS), you can earn a diploma from an accredited school, plus a career certificate in one of eight high-demand career areas. Best of all? It’s free. The Library is offering full scholarships to qualified applicants.

How it worksTo qualify, you must be 21 years or older, have a valid Carol Stream Public Library card, and commit to at least 10 hours a week of schoolwork. It takes students between six and 18 months to complete the program. All of your classes will be online, accessible from anywhere. What are you waiting for?People with high school diplomas earn more money than those with a G.E.D. With a high school diploma, you can pursue higher education, trade school, or a career in the military. Enrollment in COHS may count towards work requirements for TANF.
