Cities and towns that require removal of snow and ice from sidewalks may determine time and manner of removal and penalties for each violation. Fines are currently $50 for a violation inside a city and $10 inside a town. Need for legislation in Massachusetts The state should support communities that have chosen to require removal of snow and ice from its sidewalks.
