Primary School Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members, Interschool Athletics Carnival Tomorrow the Comet Bay SSA interschool athletics carnival will be held at Endeavour Schools. We wish all competitors the best of luck and I am sure they will be positive role models for our Schools. Parents and community members are invited to come along and support our students on the day- please feel free to come dressed in our school colours of blue and black! Before And After School Care Provision Thank you to all the parents who completed the before / after school care onsite survey last term. The response was very positive. Based on the high interest the school will be now progress to the next stage in seeking expressions of interest from possible external providers. Platinum Time – Term 4 As part of our school behaviour policy, we conduct an activity each term called Platinum Time. The purpose of this is to reward students who demonstrate positive behaviour whilst at school. For Term 4 we will be going to the movies in Week 10 as our whole-school Platinum Time activity. Further information (including costings) will be sent out later this term. Students will not be invited to this Platinum Time activity if any of the following occurs this term:

Receive five or more reflection sheets (Class behaviour)

Receive five or more C zones (Playground behaviour)

Receive three or more buddy class withdrawals

Receive two or more detentions

Receive two or more office withdrawals

Receive a school suspension These have been established to allow students to learn from past behaviours and opportunities to make the necessary adjustments. 2019 Planning If you know your child/ren will not be attending Endeavour Schools next year, can you please advise the school office as soon as possible. Having accurate student numbers will ensure we are adequately staffed, will help us structure classes appropriately and will reduce the likelihood of us having to restructure classes in 2019. Unexplained Absences Under the Education Act 1999 the school must be provided a reason for any day in which a student is absent from school. This notification should be provided to the school within three days of a student returning from this absence. If your child has been absent this term for any reason can you please ensure the class teacher or school office is notified so that our attendance register can be updated accordingly. This notification can be either verbal or in writing. Chris Burgess - Principal

Education Support Centre Dear Parents and Caregivers, Last Thursday we went to the ESC Swimming Carnival at Aqua Jetty and came home with a magnificent trophy because we were the best ‘cheering team’ on the day! Our students were magnificent both in the pool and while they were waiting for their turn to swim. We’ve brought home a bag full of ribbons which all our swimmers should be very proud of. My thanks to our wonderful staff who provide support and encouragement with all that our students do. A BIG thankyou to our ‘Cheer Squad’ of parents who came along for the day to give us their support – I think that’s why we won the cheering trophy! We are currently in the process of planning 2019 classes for both students and staff. We will start the year with a slight increase in student numbers and continue with 6 classes catering for our students from Kindy – Year 6. There will be some teaching staff and Education Assistant changes for 2019 which I will let you know about as the staffing selection processes are completed. This term Mrs Anderson-McKelvie from Room 6 has taken up a new position at another school and we wish her all the very best with her new students. I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank her for all her hard work and dedication to the students of Endeavour Schools over the years. Mrs Anderson-McKelvie will be replaced by Mrs Cotterill and very soon Miss McInerney who is returning from Maternity leave next month. So a few changes already before we even get into 2019. This week sees the first of our two Kindy Orientation sessions, starting with a parent information session and then a transition day for our new students. We look forward to meeting you all and welcoming you to our Schools. If you have any questions at any time please feel free to come and see us or give us a call. We are always here to help. That’s all for this time, Jayne Gorbould - ESC Principal

Positive Behaviour Expectation In Focus: Responsibility

Our student leaders define responsibility as taking ownership for your actions. This includes accepting both positive and negative

consequences for our actions.

At Endeavour Schools the positive behaviours we strive for our students in relation to

responsibility are:

I care for my school environment.

I use all equipment in a safe way.

I return equipment that I have borrowed.

I am punctual to all activities.

I look after my own and others’ equipment.

Art News

Endeavour Education Support Centre obtained funding from PALS to learn about Aboriginal culture from presenter Ron Bradfield. During the five-week project students will learn about Aboriginal land areas, mark making and bush tucker. Students will create different art works each week. At the end of the project, the students will paint a bush tucker design on pavers to form a footpath through the garden. This term all art classes are creating art works on the theme of celebrations around the world. During art classes all students have been taking turns to do art monitor jobs and gaining lots of independence in the art room. Unfortunately, Art Club had to change back to Tuesday lunchtimes due to a timetabling conflict. Our flute students thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Band Workshop at Comet Bay College on Wednesday. 75 students from local schools worked on their skills and technique all day and played in the big band performance for their parents. It was a very successful day. Well done kids. We are very proud of you. Congratulations to the students who performed at last week's music assembly. It was a real treat! The Year 6 classes and Year 5/6 class will be putting on plays for the school on Tuesday, 27th November. Keep your eyes open for a flyer being sent home soon. The performers are very excited about entertaining you. The Senior Choir and flautists will be spreading happiness in the community when they go to Silver Chain Rockingham on Thursday, 27th November, to perform Christmas songs and spend time talking with the elderly people. On the way back to school our students will be having lunch at Safety Bay Primary School and a play in their new 'Sound Garden'. Mrs Nurse Music Specialist
