The students have been encountering deadline for theirassignments or researches that needs them to access schoollibrary and explore a lot of resources to get better results.These students are the most popular ones to be targeted withthis scenario since they are the first line in learning.The library is one of the vital source of information that helpsequip the foundation and knowledge of students. But then

again, it became a concern to the researchers observation thata lot of students are poorly utilizing the library resources.As students, the researchers have observed that some studentsare doing their assignments, projects, researches, library worksand other school works in the canteen, along the corridors, in

their classrooms and even in the benches/chairs found outsidethe classrooms rather than the university library.It is the researchers responsibility to look into the concerns inthe school that must be addressed, in relation to the presenceof utilizing the school library. These reasons propelled the

researchers to conduct the study.

The study is anchored on George Ritzers McDonaldization Theory which identifies fourmain principles; Predictability, calculability, efficiency,and control. We can apply these four key concepts to

higher education by defining each in this specificcontext. Efficiency can be seen twofold: as therestructuring of the university toward market-definedgoals of value - both in terms of governmentfunding, and to the student stakeholder, and ofcourse in terms of the efficient production line ofgraduates to meet the ever-changing needs of capital,or the challenges of globalization.

Statement of the Problem This study will aim to determine the factors affecting the

utilization of library resources among the UCLM students. Thefindings served as the bases for the proposed action plan.

Specifically, this study will answer the followingquestions:What is the profile of the respondents in terms of: Age; Gender; Course; Year Level;What are the factors of utilizing the school library?

What are the factors of not utilizing the school library?Based on the findings of this study, what action plan may beproposed?

This study utilized a descriptive method todetermine the utilization of the library amongUCLM students. Moreover, it will determinethe factors for utilizing and not utilizing thelibrary resources among UCLM students.Descriptive method will be used for gatheringdata, while the simple percentage helps forthe treatment.

This study was conducted in University of Cebu,Lapu-lapu and Mandaue. It is located along A.C.Cortes Avenue, Mandaue City, Cebu. It is aprivately owned school that comprises severalcolleges such as: Marine Education, ComputerStudies, Allied Engineering, Criminology,Commerce, Business Administration, CustomsAdministration, Teacher Education, Hotel andRestaurant Management and Nursing. The school

has 4 main buildings namely the Old building,Annex 1, Annex 2 and the New Maritimebuilding.

This study utilized a purposive-samplingmethod to determine the respondents for thestudy. The respondents were composed of 35students who are doing their assignments,projects, library works and school works inthe canteen, along the corridors, in theirclassrooms rather than doing it in the library.The researcher provided questionnaire for therespondents to answer independently. Theresults from the questionnaire were thenfurther classified, studied and treated for theresearchers to get accurate results.

This study utilized a researcher-madequestionnaire. Part I presents theprofile of the respondents and Part IIdetermined the Factors affecting theutilization of library resources amongUCLM students. The respondents wereinstructed to place a check mark tothe corresponding number thatappropriately determined theirutilization of the Library resources andfurther assessed their answers byasking why.

Research Procedure Gathering of Data In gathering the data, theresearchers obtained permission from the schoollibrarian and to the Dean of the College ofNursing to conduct the study in the college. Thedata being collected determined the utilization ofthe library resources among nursing students.The researcher was given the chance, andgathered significant data needed. Treatment of Data The data collected wasanalysed utilizing the statistical treatment below. Simple Percentage This is used to determinethe respondents profile, space, and inaccessiblewireless connection.

The following terms were defined in thecontext which was used in this study.Library composed of materials for learningsuch as books, journals, internet connectionsand other tools used by the students as anaid in learning.Utilization the respondents degree of
