Faculty Member Attends 2015 AAMC Early-Career

Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar

Irene Kim, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery and Comprehensive Transplant

Center Transplant Surgeon was the fourth faculty member selected by the Office of

Faculty Development to attend the AAMC Early-Career Women Faculty Professional

Development Seminar. “The conference was not only helpful in providing practical

feedback on my personal career goals, but it also galvanized my effort to further my

research and academic pursuits. I cannot thank you enough for supporting my

participation at this excellent conference, which I would highly recommend to other

Cedars-Sinai junior faculty.”

AAMC Minority Faculty Development Seminars

The AAMC has added a new opportunity for mid-career minority

faculty, the Mid-Career Minority Faculty Seminar, in addition to

the existing Minority Faculty Development Seminar for early

career faculty. With support from Dr. Melmed, the Office of

Faculty Development is pleased to have selected two faculty

members to attend one of each seminar in September: Kurlen

Payton, MD, Pediatrics (Minority Faculty Development

Seminar) and Christopher Harris, MD, Pediatrics (Mid-Career

Minority Faculty Development Seminar). Kurlen Payton,
