Faculty Evaluations in the Performance Management System (MyTalent.ku.edu)

The Performance Management System (MyTalent.ku.edu) will be used to store and track faculty evaluations. Chairs and

Deans will still complete faculty evaluations for Lecturers, Teaching Professors, and Professors of the Practice using the

options available in the Performance Management System as described in this document.

When the evaluation form is ready for you, as the supervisor, to complete, you will receive an email. You can access the online form by clicking the “Document Link” in the email.

Or, once logged into the Performance Management System (mytalent.ku.edu), click on “Performance”.

After clicking “Performance” you would see the evaluations needing completion. You would then click on the faculty member’s evaluation.

Once the evaluation is open, you have three options to pick from to evaluate the faculty member, as listed in the “instructions”.

Option 1: Evaluate the Faculty member on the available Benchmarks for Teaching Effectiveness

Built into the evaluation are 7 Benchmarks for Teaching Effectiveness.

For each of the benchmarks, you can optionally choose a rating and comments to evaluate the faculty member on their performance specific to that benchmark. A rating can be selected from the rating drop down and comments can be typed into the available “Manager’s comments” box. If the faculty member completed a self-evaluation, you can view their rating and comments on the right hand side. If they did not it will say “no ratings from others”.

You may use the writing assistant for assistance in providing comments regarding the employee’s performance. To do this, click the Writing assistant button.

Once you click on “Writing Assistant” you can then review the example descriptions of performance and click on the phrase that best describes the performance.

Once you click on a phrase, the suggested sentence will then show in “preview quote below”. You can then click “place quote” to place the previewed quote in the comment box for that benchmark. Once added to the comment

box, you can edit the quote as you choose.

Option 2: Evaluate the employee in the overall performance section

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the form where you’ll find a section called, “Overall Faculty Performance”.

For overall performance, you can optionally choose a rating and comments to evaluate the faculty member on their overall performance. A rating can be selected from the rating drop down and comments can be typed into the available “Manager’s comments” box.

If the faculty member completed a self-evaluation, you can view their rating and comments on the right hand side. If they did not it will say “no ratings from others”.

Option 3: Upload a completed evaluation form of your choosing

You may follow the instructions in “Instructions” section at the top of the form (option 3) to upload an electronic version of the evaluation that has been completed outside of the system.

You would click on the Supporting Button in the top right corner.

Click on the plus sign.

Browse your computer by clicking “Browse” and once you’ve selected the document from your computer, click “Upload”.

And then click “OK”.

Send to Faculty Member for Acknowledgement

Once you have provided the evaluative feedback using any or all of the above options, click the button at the bottom of the form that states, “Send to Faculty Member for Acknowledgement”.

You will be taken to a confirmation page, where you will again click, “Send to Faculty Member for Acknowledgement” to complete the process.
