The origins of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences
The first Faculty of EconomicSciences in Andalucía opened inMálaga in 1965 and it was thefourth in Spain (after Madrid,Barcelona and Bilbao).

The Faculty actively participates in mobility programsand receives a high demand of applications fromEuropean students.

Continuous adaptation to the training needs of the environment
The Faculty of Economics and Business ischaracterized by its ability to offer free seminarsthat complement the formal educational setting oftheir students.
The Faculty organizes the annual cycle ofconferences: Economy and Society, made up offour seminars for the purpose of recognizedinternational economists.
It is committed to the training of entrepreneurs withactivities such as the Seminar Emprende 21 thatinvolves 500 students.

Basic training courses. (60 ECTS) Compulsory courses. Elective courses.
4th Course: optional, work experience in companies and final course work
However, from a basic knowledge in the previous subjects, eachqualification follows a different route.

Degree in Economics
What training is provided?Economics studies the management of scarce resources. Throughconstructing of models and the use of formal technique, there is an approachto the knowledge of economic reality.
Objectives of studies:To try to provide the best solutions to the allocation of resources.
Within the curriculum there are subjects of a different nature; therefore it is important to study both mathematics or statistics, as well as history or law.

Careers:Graduates in economics are trained to perform a wide variety of management functions, assessment and evaluation in economic affairs in general. This is both in public and private sectors.
The labour market provides employment opportunities in public institutions, financial institutions, private companies, as well as state official or international organizations (such as those belonging to the European Union).
Services as a consultant, tax advisor or financial analyst, as well as in educational institutions both in the public and private sector are also required.

Work areas:
The work is developed in both public and private sectors, incorporating intofinancial institutions, research services, consulting, tax advice, etc.
In this way, you can work as an economist in the ministry's, the autonomouscouncils, municipalities, town halls or public sectors, in internationalinstitutions or private companies.
It is also possible to engage in, for example, the profession of taxconsultant.

Degree in Administration and Business Management What Education is provided?
The Administration and Business Degree provides analysis techniques thatallow comprehension ability and management and the internal workings ofan enterprise and its relations with the markets.
In the curriculum, subjects are of a different nature; so there should bestudy in both maths or statistics as well as history or law. Similarly, thestudy of accounting or economy of the company occupies an importantplace along with other specific disciplines related to economy.

Graduates in Business Administration are trained to perform a widevariety of management functions, assessment and evaluation inproductive organizations.An ability to adapt to different working environments and theversatility provided by the studies, allows students to assumevarious managerial responsibilities.It is also possible to engage in the profession as advisor andbusiness consultant. Equally there is the possibility to access publicpositions through jobs offered by different public administrations,adapted to the students professional profiles. On the other hand,educational institutions, both public and private, also often requirethese professionals.

What Education is provided?
The main objective of this degree is to train professionals capable ofcarrying out management, counselling and evaluation of financial-economic affairs in the field of Finance and Accounting.In the curriculum subjects are of a different nature; so both Maths orStatistics as well as History or Law should be studied. Similarly, thestudy of accounting, finance, economy and the analysis of financialoperations analysis, occupies a very important place.

CareerGraduates in Finance and Accounting are trained to perform,
among others, the functions of management and financial advisoryboth in accounting firms and in economic and financial institutions(bank and insurance). They may also conduct the audit practice ofaccounting, act as intermediaries in financial markets and as expertsin asset management and assess and analyze investment risks.
Consequently, graduates can find a career in the departmentsof administration, finance or insurance of any business orconsultancy.

This is a second cycle degree that can be accessed by those whohave passed the first round of the BA in Economics, BusinessAdministration and Law and those qualified in Statistics andBusiness Studies.
The aim of this course is to train professionals capable of managingfinancial and insurance companies, capable of evaluatinginvestment and risk.

The Support Programme for the ExchangeStudents (PAPI) of the University of Malaga is aprogramme where Spanish UMA students (PAPIstudents) guide and support international studentswho choose as their destination our university. It issimilar to the Buddy Programmes or Meet a MateProgrammes that other universities organize.

What does this programme offer?Within PAPI s framework various activities aregoing to be developed to favour the integration ofexchange students and, at the same time, theinternationalization and multilingualism of UMAstudents, through the combining of both groups.International Students will be paired with aSpanish UMA student who will help them withtheir enrolment at the university and with theirintegration into Spanish culture.
