Graduate Enrollment report (2nd week):

– On-campus graduate enrollment = 994– Extended Learning (graduate) = 582– Total Graduate Enrollment = 1576

Office of Graduate Studies• On-campus S&T Grad Fair that was held at the

Havener Center on April 15th has produced some good results:

– Total attendees approx. = 73 – Of the 73 attendees, students who were planning to

graduate in SP09/SS09 = 21– Of those 21 students, people who applied to

graduate school at S&T = 10 – Of those 10 students who applied, students who

have enrolled (graduate school at Missouri S&T) for this Fall = 7

Office of Graduate Studies, cont.• Vicki Hudgins made a web-presentation to the

Systems Engineering students (distance and on-campus) and explained the graduate rules & policies.

Hit the Ground Running (HGR) This summer, HGR had 115 participants, (making it the second largest HGR group that the university has hosted). Besides course work that included English, Chemistry and Mathematics, the students participated in a ropes course, etiquette luncheon and a student success course.

Voyager Learning CommunityThis fall, the Voyager living and learning community will have 53 students. Voyager students will participate in 7 seminars during the fall semester and regular study sessions throughout the year. During the spring semester, students will complete a community service project.

Call for Nominations- Missouri S&T Faculty Service Learning AwardIn 2009, The Office of Undergraduate Studies will award a select Missouri S&T faculty member who involves or influence students in academic service learning or community service activities outside the classroom. All Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to submit nominations for this faculty award.  Nominations must include a supporting statement (maximum of one page) that describes how the nominee involves or influences students in community service or academic service-learning through his or her work with student groups, learning communities and/or classroom instruction. Nominations may include up to three letters of support from department chairs, colleagues and/or students.  Nominations are due November 4, 2009. 2009-10 OURE UpdateThis year, approximately 104 Missouri S&T undergraduates will participate in 88 research projects through the Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experiences (OURE) program.  OURE offers undergraduate students the opportunity to participate in individual or group research with a faculty research advisor in their department. Participating students receive $1000 for the completion of their projects. Students receive a $250 stipend during the fall semester and an additional $750 in the spring, upon completion and submission of their final report. OURE students, and others participating in undergraduate research at Missouri S&T, are encouraged to present the results of their research projects at the Missouri S&T Undergraduate Research Conference on April 7, 2010. Active Learning / Faculty Learning Community (FLC)- The goal of this FLC is to get more faculty members involved with using Active Learning strategies in their classroom. Cyber Learning / Faculty Learning Community –The Cyber Learning FLC was formed with the goal of gaining an understanding of how faculty on campus are using technology in their classrooms and sharing those experiences with colleagues. Center for Educational Research & Teaching Innovation (CERTI) Activities

Global Learning• The enrollment of distance students for FS 2009 is at

an all time high with 649 students showing on the Registrar’s Third Week Enrollment Grid. This is an exceptional number in light of the economic slowdown and the national reduction in corporate support for continuing education.

• As of FS 2009, Electrical and Computer Engineering is the latest addition to the list of 13 MS degrees that are now available over the internet.
