FROM SELF-FOCUSED
TO COMMUNAL
We are sent out from worship to be grown as disciples of Jesus Christ and to serve throughout the week as we live out His ministry. There are Sunday School classes for all ages following worship this morning at 11:20 so that we might grow and be
equipped as disciples, so instead of heading out, please prayerfully consider grabbing a quick snack in Fellowship Hall
and then joining a class or conversation! Worship sheets and activity bags for children are available from the ushers.
Assistive listening devices are available for those with hearing difficulties.
Large print hymnals are available. Please ask an usher for assistance.
Hymns in the 700’s are from Sing! People of Faith, purple booklet in pews.
The large candle on the communion table is a symbol for us that, as Christians, we believe Christ is still the light of the world.
THE ORDER OF MORNING WORSHIP 31ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
10:00 AM OCTOBER 30, 2016
THE FIRST NOTE OF THE PRELUDE begins our worship. Please use the prelude time to turn your attention to God’s presence and help.
As worship is not an obligatory offering unto God, but a natural response to God’s goodness, take time to consider all the reasons, big and small, for which you are thankful unto God. Nurturing our
relationships and friendships in fellowship is essential to our life as a congregation, so please continue to do so following our time
of worship. Those who are able are invited to stand. Latecomers may be seated.

Leader: Friends, let us confess our faith!
People: We have been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Our
sins are forever forgiven and God’s Holy Spirit dwells
within us. The promises celebrated in baptism are God’s
promises to us, to our children, and to all who are far
away. In response, we devote ourselves to teaching, to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. We
stay together, we hold all things in common, and we
share from what we have, as any has need. We live with
glad and generous hearts, we give praise and thanks to
God, and we have the goodwill of all people.
Leader: It is not in solitude, but in community that we know and
celebrate all of God’s graceful and loving gifts upon us
all, and that we witness to and live by these gifts in ways
that help God to add to the numbers of those who
celebrate God’s salvation.
People: Thanks be to God!

SANCTUARY OPEN FOR A DAY OF PRAYER
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8, 2016
But seek the welfare of the city [country, world] where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will
find your welfare. ~Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV)
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” ~ Helen Keller
Faith Church is opening its Sanctuary to members and the community on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for reflection and prayer.
In today’s world, it is harder and harder to find our way through the divisions that overwhelm us in the cultural, political, economic, and religious areas of our lives . But as God’s people, we are instructed by God through God’s words in the Old and New Testament to work and live together in peace and grace.
It is our hope that Faith Church members will consider taking 15 minutes or more throughout our “Day of Prayer” to pray for the health and healing of our country and our people, during Election Day – and beyond. Christians recognize that they are members of another realm as well as the country in which they reside. God’s word tells us to “… seek the welfare of the city [country, world] where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV).
A signup sheet for our “Day of Prayer” event is available in the Narthex. More than one person is welcome to pray and meditate at any one time. If you cannot come to church, consider signing up to pray at a specific time at home or at work.
It is good and pleasant when God’s people live together in peace! ~ Psalm 133:1
For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ~ Galatians 5:14

Holiday Hope Chest
This year, the Youth Groups from Faith Church and The Barn are working together to coordinate and organize the mission project: Holiday Hope Chests. We are collecting items to include in gifts for children in the Lehigh Valley. These gifts will help to create magical holiday memories for children and offer them something special this Christmas season. This project supports the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley.
We are asking Faith Church to collect Boys items for pre-teens, ages 11-14,
and the Barn will be collecting girls items for the same age group. The deadline for physical donations is 5:00 PM on November 27th, the date the Youth Groups are scheduled to do the packing.
We are happy to accept monetary donations to enable the purchase of items
that have not been donated. Those donations must be received by November 20, allowing us time to shop!
Please see the list on the reverse of this page for the Gift Suggestion Sheet provided by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. If you have any questions, please talk to one of the kids in Youth Group, or speak with Joanne Marchetto. [email protected]
