Last week in Thursday Night Bible Study (6pm) we concluded our study
on moving mountains through prayer. We will begin a new study on
June 8. Our new study will be centered around John Ortberg's DVD-
based study If You Want to Walk on the Water, You've Got To Get Out
of the Boat. A participant's study guide is available, just click on the title
to order online or visit your local bookstore to get one.
Next Second Harvest Food Giveaway
The next Second Harvest Food Giveaway will be this
weekend! We will unload the truck Friday beginning at 5 pm.
And then on Saturday, we will gather at 7:30 am for some breakfast
and then a team meeting at 8:00 am in the sanctuary. Afterwards,

we will open the doors and give the food away! IF you haven't
signed up to help already, come anyway. We could use you.
We have several needs:
1)
Boxes!
We have 351 so far. We need 50 more! Please stop by Ingles and pick
up some of their milk boxes for our Second Harvest Food Giveaway.
Boxes are stored in classroom across from nursery.
2) Volunteers for unloading the truck and setting up the sanctuary
on Friday. Invite your family and friends.
3) Volunteers for working on Saturday. Invite your family and
friends.
4) Volunteer to take cardboard to recycle (~ a truckload each day)
5) Pray for the safety of all, for the right people to come who are in
need, and for God's hand on this ministry that we might bring someone
closer to Him by our love and example.
6) Please wear your FFCPC T-shirts on Saturday, or if you don't
have one, you can wear a teal-colored shirt to match. But if you don't
have one, don't let that keep you from coming.
This is an excellent outreach opportunity. Invite others to help!
Contributions for May were about 10% below budget. In addition to
the storm last Sunday that left the Church with no power for the Sunday
services, many folks were on vacation, sick, or travelling. Worship
attendance was 37. If you are behind and are able, please "Catch Up" this
coming Sunday. June will be an expensive month - we must pay for The
Second Harvest Food Giveaway and the new gas hot water heater and
installation.

Time is running out to save a life today....yours!
Did you know?
Most people can't identify a single risk factor or a warning sign of stroke, yet over 750,000 Americans will be affected by a stroke this year alone!
Stroke is the 4th leading cause of death and the #1 reason for nursing home admission. You can take advantage of these health screenings today by signing up for the complete stroke screening package (which includes 4 screenings for vascular disease and an osteoporosis screening) for $139 when Life Line Screening comes to our location. We have a signup sheet in the Narthex. 40 people are already signed up, including some of our church family, so if you are thinking about it, go ahead and get signed up. There are a limited number of appointments available. NOTE: We are looking for a few people who can be at the church
during that day and who can talk and greet the folks coming in for their
appointments, and give them some literature on the church. We will also
need to keep coffee made and water available for anyone who would like
it. If you can help, please sign up on the Volunteer sheet in the Narthex.
These are in 2-hour increments.

The Women are studying a series entitled, Gospel of Mark, The Jesus
We're Aching For. God's heart is moved by your cries for help and
shouts for joy. In Lisa Harper's 7-session Bible Study, The Gospel of
Mark: The Jesus We're Aching For, you'll follow Jesus through His
days of early ministry all the way to the cross. It's there we discover
what it means to be the recipients of His excessive compassion and the
very reason for His all-consuming passion. If you are interested in attending this Bible Study, please contact Mary
Nell Yarbro at (865) 679-9246.
CPWM Ladies Retreat Our CPWM Ladies retreat will be held on July 21-22 at the Stone
Crossing subdivision clubhouse, which is only about 1/2 mile west of the
church. Additional details will be provided in the upcoming weeks. If
you would like to volunteer to help with this, please contact Audrey
Nester at (804) 387-0868.

downtown Knoxville. The groceries are stored in the basement of the
Church of the Savior, located on North Weisgarber Rd. Duties include taking phone requests, logging requests, mapping routes,
stocking the pantry, and delivering (delivery teams are typically husband
and wife, but not limited to that). Faith Fellowship has up to four people
involved in answering phones, mapping, and logging, and eight involved
in delivery. We stock the pantry each February and typically have about
20 participants. Generally we make a total of 40-50 deliveries (total for
the 3 churches) each month. We do this on the 4th Wednesday of each
month. Delivery teams begin begin about 10:45 or 11:00 am. We have
been involved in this ministry since 2010. In addition to providing labor,
FFCPC donates cash to help pay for stocking the pantry in February of
each year. For more information, please click on FISH. This will take
you to our website. If you are interested in becoming part of this
wonderful ministry, please contact Regina Stinnett at (865) 898-3001
or [email protected] or Jim Stinnett at (865) 556-4090
Bible 101 Class If you have been thinking about attending Sunday School, but did not
necessarily want to start in the middle of a study ... well, here is your
opportunity to be involved in the beginning of a new study series.
Beginning this coming Sunday May 28, Gary Fox will be teaching a
Bible study from the Gospel of John (actually because so many people
missed last Sunday because of the Saturday night storms, Gary will
review his introduction and overview this week).
Like Butch Jones who is building his football team brick by brick, Gary
will go through the entire book of John, verse by verse. Bible 101 strives
to carry out the teaching ministry of Jesus Christ, so if you are ready
to "dive into the word" the water is nice and warm. So plan to visit
Bible 101 at 8:45 on Sunday. The first lesson will be an introduction and
overview of the Book of John. Please come. This is an opportunity to
study the teachings of Jesus Christ through the Apostle John's
eyewitness. Many thanks to Daryl Downing who just completed a study
at 11:30am. Contact Dorothy Morton at 986-5279 or [email protected]; schedule is posted on bulletin board at church.
THURSDAY
Thursday Night Bible Study at 6:00pm.
Choir Practice at 7:00 pm
Ladies' Lunch Bunch will meet on June 6
at Cookout at Cedar Bluff 11:30 am
FISH Pantry Collections
We are continuing to collect toiletries for
the West Knox Food Pantry (FISH) on an
ongoing basis. We have a container in the
Narthex to collect these and will take them
every month or so to the pantry when it is
our turn to deliver for FISH.
Flowers for the
Altar
of the Book of Luke.
T-Shirts are Here! If you ordered a t-shirt, they are here. Please pick them up in the
Narthex. Cost is $13. Please pay Dorothy Morton.
Church-Wide Garage Sale
Oct 6-7 It's time for Spring cleaning! Our CPWM is sponsoring another Garage
Sale this fall. So we are now accepting your unwanted items to take
advantage of your Spring cleaning. If you want to start bringing items
in, you can put them in the garage or in the Fellowship House. Someone
is in the office Monday - Thursday 9-Noon. Or you can arrange to meet
someone at an alternate time to unlock the door.
If you would like to provide flowers for the
altar in memory or in honor of someone,
please contact the office at (865) 988-8522
to let us know.
Kroger Community
Rewards
The Kroger Community Rewards program
is helping us raise money for the CPWM.
It is an easy way to support our church
and the CPWM. Simply enroll your
Kroger Card in the program, following the
link below. https://www.kroger.com/communityrewards
One misconception is that if you sign up
for the Community Rewards Program, you
won't get your fuel points. This is NOT
true! You will be able to do both!
The residents of Kindred Nursing Home that FFCPC have been helping
are extremely pleased with their new clothing and other items including
fresh haircuts. We have received a new list from them for additional
items they would like to have. They are in need of BINGO prizes. For
example, they could use devotion books, inexpensive jewelry, candy,
treats, books, etc. In addition, anything for the garden in the courtyard is
great. A box is now located in the Narthex for the collection of these
items.
Administrative and Personnel Committee
The Administrative and Personnel Committee needs to add a couple
more committee members. The committee responsibilities include, but
are not limited to: coordinating staff performance appraisals,
administering and implementing the Safe Sanctuary Policy, maintaining
church policies and procedures, maintaining the website, issuing the
weekly newsletter....... A full job description is on the Church website.
