July 2017

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans

for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (Amp)

Greetings Beloved!

It is with a delightful and expectant heart that I write my first article for the Faith UMC newsletter. I’ll first share a few statistics: I’ve been in ministry almost twenty years serving local churches as Pastor. I’m single (never married), and have a twelve year old dachshund named Maxx (who some call my son—we’ve been together eleven years!). I have three sisters – one is my twin, Carolyn. In my last appointment, we lived just three miles from one another which is the first time we’ve lived that near to one another in our adult lives! I miss her already…

Since learning I would be privileged to serve your congregation, I have been especially sensitive to the above words from the Prophet Jeremiah. This passage of scripture has guided my life and ministry for many years as I’ve sought to serve the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul while shepherding others into a stronger relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Trusting in God’s divine plan for our purposed life with each other, I am confident that as we pray and discern together, worship and work together, laugh and cry together, our community of faith will accomplish amazing things in Jesus’ name! It is in the Spirit of His joy that I share the following prayer and look forward to becoming your Pastor:

Loving Teacher,

Come and make Your home in our hearts this day. Dwell within us all day long and save us from error or foolish ways. Teach us today to do no harm, to do good, and assist us so that we may stay in loving relationship with You and our neighbor. Help us today to be an answer to another’s prayer so that we may be one of Your signs of hope in the world You love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

From Three Simple Rules by Bishop Rueben P. Job

In His Service,

Rev. Marilyn E Coney

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the health packet mission project in June. We sent 12 packets

to annual conference.

Our July mission project will be to collect sweat pants, under ware and socks to distribute to our local schools. They

can be gently used or new. Items needed are for grades K-4. Occasionally a child will have an accident or get to

school wet or muddy due to snow or rain. These items will help them have a productive day at school and very

appreciated by our teachers. Items are needed for both boys and girls. This will be a joint project this month with

our United Methodist Women. A box is available in the Narthex to drop off your donations.

United Methodist Women - The U.M.W. will meet for their annual picnic on Saturday July 8 at noon at the shelter across from the YMCA at Hedges-Boyer Park. Please bring a dish to share and a “white elephant” wrapped item for bingo. We will have a short meeting to discuss upcoming events. All women of the church and any guests that you would like to bring are invited. Beverages and paper products will be provides. Please join us.
