SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKE DAYIf your student missed picture day or you would like themretaken, our retake day is on Wednesday, November 6. If youare not happy with the pictures, your student MUST BRING THEPICTURE PACKET in order for retakes to be done. NOTES FROM VOLUNTEERCOORDINATOR - ANDREA DORN Calling all Veterans! Jenna Norman, a 7th Grade US Studies teacher is looking forVeterans to volunteer to speak to her classes throughout theday. Each Veteran will start with an introduction of themselvesand share about their experiences in the armed forces. Theywould then answer questions from the students (Ms. Normanwill provide examples for students and will be screeningquestions before hand). Ms. Norman will provide a overview ofthis to all Veterans willing to volunteer. If you know of any Veterans willing to volunteer to

speak to her class for one or more of the time slots below, the students would welcome tohear their stories. HOW TO CONTACT YOURSTUDENTStudents now have email capabilities on their Chromebook. Ifyou need to get a message to your student during the day,please send them this information in an email. Please ask yourstudent for this information. We appreciate your assistance andwe hope this will reduce interruptions during instruction time.Thank you.

WHAT TO DO...ABSENCESIf your child is going to be late or absent from school, pleasecall the school with the reason for the absence. The telephonecall eliminates the need to send a note with your student whenhe/she returns to school. We would appreciate having the callbetween the hours of 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Excused absences

LOST & FOUNDOur lost and found table is �lled with coats, sweatshirts, tops,shoes, and lunch boxes. If your student is missing somethinghave them check the table by the front o�ce. Please remindyour student not to leave items on top of their locker if they do,items will be on this table. Items will be held until December 5and then they will be donated. Thank you.

APPOINTMENTS/EARLY RELEASEA parent/guardian must send a note excusing their student from school. The student mustbring the note to the Student Services o�ce before school to get a pass. When it is time forthe student to leave school, they must sign out in the main o�ce. If a student does not have anote, a parent/guardian is required to come into the o�ce with a photo ID to sign out theirstudent. This procedure is in place to ensure student safety. IF YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL OR ATTENDANCE PHONE CALLTo verify which class or classes your student was absent from, please access your student’sattendance on ParentVUE, our online parent resource. If your student feels they were markedabsent in error, the student should talk directly to the teacher. IF YOUR STUDENT IS NOT FEELING WELL WHILE AT SCHOOLMaple Grove Middle School has a registered nurse in the building. Students who do not feelwell during the day should get a pass from their teacher to go the nurse’s o�ce. The nurse willthen determine if the student is not well enough to continue the school day and will contactthe parent/guardian to pick up their student when necessary. PICKING UP A SICK STUDENTIf you have received a call from the nurses o�ce to pick your student up, please bring yourphoto ID into school. For the safety of your student, we check ID’s every time before werelease a student.

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UPIf you are picking up or dropping off your student between the hours of 7:30 – 8:15 AM. and2:15 – 3:00 PM please use the EAST parking lot. The district has installed signage to helpdirect tra�c in this parking lot. The west and the south parking lots are reserved for bussesand other authorized vehicles. Please see the map below. It is very important that all parents follow the pick up/drop off route. When parents do notfollow the route, it creates safety concerns for students and staff who are using thecrosswalk. If ALL parents use the proper route, it actually makes the tra�c �ow go faster.Please help keep our parking lot safe! Thank you for your corporation.
