Weekend. Email Address: [email protected] There are some exceptions for long names, e.g. Christopher shortened to Chris Common Issues and Questions:

• When can I email the new cadets? Please wait until 6 August to email them.

• Why tablet computers? – The selection committee decided the pedagogical reasons for tablets out-weighed the increased cost and weight. The tablet can be used for taking hand-written notes in class, including math formulas, drawings, diagrams, etc.

• Can upperclass cadets buy the same computer? Yes, they need to email Larry

Bryant before 10 July, so one can be delivered on 6 Aug for them. • Printers are not included in the computer purchase for several reasons:

o It is a “personal preference” item – some want cheap black and white, while others want high-quality photo printers.

o They are not necessary, since we provide squadron printers. o They make good gifts for parents and grandparents.

• We teach “computer ethics” in Comp Sci 110 to convince cadets that certain

common practices done in high school (e.g. illegally copying music or movies) are no longer acceptable and are punishable.

If you have any questions please contact Larry Bryant at 719-333-3994 or email [email protected].

ANNUAL PARENTS’ CLUB PRESIDENTS’ RECEPTION AND CONFERENCE Mark your calendars – this year our annual parents’ club presidents’ reception and conference will take place on 29 - 30 August 2012. The reception will be held at the Superintendent’s home (tentatively) on Wednesday, 29 August from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The conference will be held at Doolittle Hall (AOG building) from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday 30 Aug. Registration forms will be e-mailed in July so keep in mind that the forms will go to whomever is listed in the database as the club presidents. If there are any remaining new presidents who haven’t sent in the “new president form” they will not receive this information. If you have other officers in the club who would like to attend, that is fine – they will need to send in a registration form as well. Spouses may accompany the club officers but please don’t invite friends! Lunch will be at the Falcon Club. This information will be included with registration forms. POST OFFICE BOX, FEDERAL EXPRESS, UPS, and DHL INFORMATION From the USAFA Postmaster

The correct mailing address for your cadet is crucial. Mail not deliverable due to the incorrect address or insufficient information will be returned to the sender or sent to the Dead Letter Office (if there is no return address). In addition to regular mail (envelopes) you may also send packages to the post office box and the cadets will receive a note in the boxes instructing them to pick up their packages at the counter. The address must be complete and correct. 2016 appointees were sent their P.O. Box number with their appointment package (on cover page). (Note that the zip code for cadets is 80841 rather than 80840.) The correct address for all cadets is below: John Doe PO Box xxxx (post office box number) USAFA CO 80841-xxxx (post office box number) (If you wish, you can also put the cadet rank (C4C, C3C, etc… before the name or as a basic cadet it should be “Basic Cadet John Doe”)) If you choose to send a package via Federal Express, UPS or DHL, you need a street address. They will not deliver to a post office box. The pickup location, called Pak Mail, is in the Cadet Book Store Vandenberg Hall. Below is the correct mailing address: John Doe (add the rank before the name if you wish) Pak Mail 2630 Vandenberg Dr. USAFA CO 80840-xxxx (*post office box number) *The post office box number is added to this as a 4 digit zip+4 as a means of identification when the cadet picks up the package at Pak Mail.
