    FALL 2014

This summer the children of some churches in Newfoundland have been raising money at their VBS programs to helpwith the water project for children in Honduras!

Maranatha Church, Triton Nfld.~ Pastor Mark Foster reports ~

We had the project all prepared at the entrance of the sanctuary. There was a table prepared with theHonduran flag and map. We had a large glass water jug there for the kids to put their money in. Once theygave to the project, they were given a blue balloon, which represented water. They blew up this balloon andthrew it into our huge inflatable drinking glass. Our goal for the end of the week is that our glass would befull.

I promoted the project all week and got all the kids very hyped up and ready to give. It'sincredible how they took matters into their own hands. Throughout the week, we had abunch of kids come in with envelopes with over $100 in them from different personalfundraisers they were doing throughout the week. Some of the girls did a bake sale, someof the boys did a recyclable drive, and some of the other kids decided that they would godoor-to-door to help this project.

It was amazing! By the end of the week we went far beyond our goal, the cup was not only full, but the floorwas covered in balloons. It was a great week of learning, growing, worshipping, and a great week of giving. We were so pleased with our kids response!

Westside Tabernacle Corner Brook, NL ~ Jeremy C. Simms, Youth and Children's Pastor

Our VBS missions project goal this year was to raise $1000.00 for the drilling of wells in Honduras. Wechallenged the children and they delivered! The children throughout the week of VBS raised not $1000, but$2000! The board agreed to match up to $1000 making our total funds raised to $3000.00!

The children were so excited that they were ableto help and make a difference. We added water toour glass each morning to see how much money weraised so far. The final day we added until it overflowed.

We pray God blesses your ministry.

    FALL 2014

Well, well, well ! The Honduras water project is moving ahead.Ultimately our goal is to have a well that is piped to several schools that benefits thousands of

people in the communities as well as our students in the schools where we have the feeding programs. There aremany steps to this process and a fair length of time to make all this happen .. This past year Central Communitychurch started that process with us putting in huge water barrels to hold water so kids could wash their hands, and so we could prepare the food and wash the dishes hygienically. These large tanks were gravity fed to thelower areas where our feeding stations are connected into smaller water barrels so the moms did not have to carrywater on their shoulders long distances. I know that you will enjoy hearing the stories of how precious children inCanada are making a difference in the lives of children in Honduras. This is our number one priority this comingyear.

    FALL 2014

Evangel Pentecostal Sunday School, Gander, NL~ VBS partners with Schools of HOPE VBS 2014

Each year in Sunday School, as part of Offerama, (Missions Offering) we invitethe children to become involved in a specific missions project. This year wedecided to partner with the Lundrigan s in Honduras and raise funds to sendchildren to VBS camp, as VBS is very near and dear to our hearts in Gander. This

year, as in years past, we put out the challenge to the children to see who canraise the most funds, the boys or the girls. This always creates lots of excitement and fun!

We informed the children about the project showing them pictures of the children and life in Hondurasand that the cost to send one child to VBS. We sent them home with offering envelopes each week in May2014 with our goal to send ten children to VBS in mind. We did a poster and displayed it in our churchfoyer, it read Were Sending Kids in Honduras to VBS. Each week we would add a picture of a boy forevery $100 raised by the boys and a picture of a girl for every $100 they raised to let the kids and thechurch know where we stood in our friendly competition. When all the money was in, the boys raised themost but together the children raised $1500.00. Praise the Lord!

When we presented the need to the children, the challenge was also given for them to be a part of thegiving not just their parents. And from that challenge we have some special stories.

Two brothers, Dominic, age 8, and Xander, age 6, took the challenge to heart and beganto do chores around the house for money thatthey could bring as an offering for the VBS project.

Isnt it is amazing what a little inspiration can do! Thanks to all of the youth and childrens ministriesleaders who inspired their kids to make such a huge difference. Thank You!

Philip, age 5, and his brother Jack, age 2, countedthe money in their piggy banks and began to talkto their parents about how much was needed tosend one child to VBS. Together the boys, with just a little help from their grandparents, did justthat!

Then there is Timothy. Timothy is a 5 year olboy who lost both his parents and his youngebrother in a tragic car accident when he was jthree years old. He now lives in Gander with grandfather and is a part of our Sunday Schoo

    On Mothers Day, during our

Offerama project, he brought inan offering in memory of his momthat would send more than onechild to VBS.

Well, well, well Team Grimsby! Every team is unique and different and it is always wonderful tosee how God will move in and through a team. This team was verygifted in ministry, and did a lot of hands activities including

blessing the house that Millbrook rebuilt.

The Grimsby team worked very hard digging in deplorableconditions. During the rainy season, as the water runs down thehill it floods into the homes. The team removed the sewage filledmud from inside these houses without hesitation. They also

painted the school building and put in another water tank.

VBS CampDale Ruttan is the heart behind the idea to run a VBS Camp for our sponsored CCP (Child Care Plus) kids inNovember. These kids have NEVER been to a VBS. The majority of these kids have NEVER done anything like this, oreven spent a night down in the city or away from home. We look forward to what God will do through this wonderfulopportunity to impact lives for CHRIST! Prayers appreciated!

H ere is an update fr om Dale regardin g the Bi ble Mi ni stry Programs in our schools.

A male teacher at one of our schools asked us to stay at the end of our presentation. He said he had beenpraying for Bible Classes within the public school system for a VERY long time. He went to the educationoffice three times to ask for them to find Bible teachers. He thought we were sent from the government, but when we explained what we do here in Honduras, he teared up and kept saying Thank you, I havebeen praying for you to come and to teach my children . He has been the most amazing guy and hashelped us with the fun days, piata day, and our other events.

Gerson, the boy with Leukemia is a great inspiration to others. His hard working mom, employed as a factory worker is also a great example to the other mothers. He is in Grade 5and loves to receive Bible Bucks. He has learned all of his verses, completed his homeworksheets and even buys them from others so that he can do those as well and get even moreBible Bucks. By the time he came to the Bible Store to cash them in he had a total of 13 BibleBucks. The most so far to be redeemed. At the store, he bought some things for himself, astuffie for his teacher and another stuffed animal for Director Carmen. She teared up when

he gave it to her. He has recently finished his last round of chemo. He told us he didn't understand whyhis friends didn't come to school when they had a cold because he came every day during chemo - evenwhen he was VERY sick. He did his very best to keep his grades up. He is the kindest kid I have ever met.He loves God and he loves our gospel presentations.

Well, well, well God is good! Here is an inspiring note about the Feeding Program froma fellow missionary. Jennie Loving, SAMS, Danli, El Paraiso

Your Feeding Program has been such a godsend this year, I cannot begin to tell you. We have had anotheryear of drought and crop failure. As you know the children are the first to suffer. Here are a couple ofstories on how these children have improved.

    Anderson Corrales

Anderson is a 2-year old preschooler, who since his birth has shown serious signs ofmalnutrition. Because of his being underweight due to lack of food, he has been put inhospital 2 or 3 times in his short life, once for almost a month. However, since he hasbeen a beneficiary of the In School Feeding Program through Schools of Hope, his health has improvednoticeably and is active and alert.

Greysi Yaneth Hernandez Greysi is an 8-year-old second grader who has had serious health problems due tobeing underweight. She also presented learning difficulties when she first arrived inSan Lorenzo. Through the Schools of Hope ISFP she has overcome both health and

learning problems and is now learning what she couldn't master when she sufferedfrom malnutrition.

Short Term Missionary ~ Breanne Pierce

I had the incredible opportunity to work withSchools of Hope Ministries in Honduras as anintern for ten weeks this summer. What anamazing experience! God is doing big thingswith this ministry. In addition to our monthlylesson in each classroom, we had a fun day at

ach school. The kids loved it! One of the things that reallymazes people back in Canada is the openness to the gospel inhe public schools of Honduras. We were even asked to teachBible lesson to the teachers! God is so good! I have beenorking on my Spanish over the last 3 years. Being able toally communicate with the Honduran people in their ownnguage, being able to teach part of the lesson in Spanish, or

hat and laugh with friends without a translator was one ofmy most rewarding experiences. The hardest part of my trip

as leaving. Im so grateful for the time I had with Schools ofope; it was truly an amazing experience in ministry.
