I. In one or two paragraphs, please explain why you would like to be a columnist, what you envision your column will mainly be about content wise and how your column will contribute to the Duke community at large.

II. Please list any organizations you will be involved with during the fall semester and note any leadership positions. If any of the organizations you are involved in will influence your writing, please explain how. If you are currently involved in The Chronicle, please explain your involvement:

III. Briefly describe/list a few ideas, current issues/events, or topics of study that are of interest to you. (4-6 sentences)

IV. Column ideas: Summarize two potential topics. Provide the core idea in a single sentence and a few more sentences explaining subpoints and/or your approach. (2-3 sentences each)

VI. Please include a sample column of about 750-850 words. Include this in the same document; do not attach a separate file.

VII. Please include any ideas you have to incorporate digital material into your column and/or enhance your column’s online presence through social media.
