Can you feel it yet? It’s Fall Time!
Here at Country Traditions, we are getting ready for the holiday season to start. Amazing new fabric lines have just made their appearance and are ready to be used in your next project. Lots of new patterns have also blossomed in the summer sun. Great new holiday home and decor items have been put on display to make the store sparkle and shine.
“I Love Fabric” Sales Day Event is just around the corner, with all the new fabric lines now available, you are sure to find something new that fits you. Since the kids are going back to school, feel free to take a few classes for yourself to inspire your mind and bring out the creativity in your machine. There are plenty of classes to choose from, contact the store or visit online to see what’s available. The summer season is almost over and the Row by Row Experience is sure to follow. Labor Day is the cut off, so make sure you visit any last minute places to get your free pattern. Congratulations to Carol Polacek for being the first one to bring in 8 rows completed. Look inside to see a picture of her quilt. Be sure to mark your calenders for Saturday, August 29th. It’s “Old Bag Day,” so get your shop hop bags ready for great sales.
Join us in September as we celebrate National Sewing Month with great events and classes. Let’s get the creativity flowing by decorating our homes with Holiday Gift and Home Decor Items during our Fall Harvest Splendor Open House and our 12 Days of Christmas Sale, or just kick back and sew with all your quilting friends during the Fat Quarter Frenzy or the Thanksgiving Quilt Along. Also, be sure to bring in all your class cash that you have earned over the year, to the Holiday Affair Auction, where you can bid on great fabrics, patterns, notions and much more.
If you are a Longarm Quilter, don’t miss out on the Long Arm Quilting Retreat, featuring Lisa Calle as she teaches us how to design the quilting for our projects and shows us many great simple ways to use rulers.
There are many great sales coming up and lots of wonderful opportunities to spend time with your quilting buddies and get those unfinished projects completed or some new ones started. Please feel free to flip through these pages to see all the great events we have planned for you. Are you ready for some “Quilting”!?! We hope to see you soon in the coming months.

September is the month that marks the start of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. For many, it also marks the start of the school year and the harvest season. As such, it is a time of celebration and new beginnings. There is only one national holiday in the United States that falls in September, but there are still plenty of
fun things happening here at Country Traditions. So bring your friends, and Quilting Buddies in for a visit. We look forward to seeing you.

September is National Sewing Month! While at first glance this may seem like just another wacky event manufactured by the greeting card industry, National Sewing Month was actually instituted to recognize the importance of the home sewing industry. At the request of the American Home Sewing &
Craft Association, President Ronald Reagan, on September 21, 1982, declared the month of September as National Sewing Month. Additional proclamations were made in 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1988. They state that “Tens of millions of Americans sew at home. Their efforts demonstrate the industry, the skill, and the self-reliance which are so characteristic of this Nation.”
There are so many forms of “home” sewing that we can’t begin to list them all. There is embroidery, needlepoint, garment sewing, home dec, and of course, quilting. Just think of all the different machines, fabrics, supplies and notions that have been created just for our passion. Imagine how important fabric and sewing products are to our economy and how many businesses and people are supported by the “home sewing” industry. Home sewing certainly deserves it’s own month.
President Reagan wasn’t the first president to recognize the importance of sewing. Do you know which president gave the following advice to his daughter?
“In the country life of America there are moments when a woman can have recourse to nothing but her needle for employment. When one is in dull company and it is poor taste to read, or simply leave, the needle is a valuable resource.”
Join the CountryTraditionsOnLine Facebook page in September to share your best guesses and/or learn the answer. In the mean time, set some time aside and celebrate your passion this month.
PFAFFCelebrates Octoberfest
When you hear the words PFAFF sewing machines, the phrase “Superior German Engineering” immediately comes to mind. In 1862, Georg Michael Pfaff, an instrument maker in trade, made his first sewing machine and founded the G.M. Pfaff sewing machine factory in Kaiserslautem, Germany.
The Company started out manufactuing sewing machines for industrial use only. All that changed when the first PFAFF for home use was introduced in 1931. For 152 years, the PFAFF name has been synonymous with excellence in sewing.
PFAFF is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sewing machines. Many of the PFAFF sewing machines are suited for the seamstress who wants to make more professional looking garments. Whether you are just starting to sew, are a professional seamstress, or an experienced quilter; PFAFF sewing machines will help you produce more finished looking garments, quilts, and embroidered projects that you can be proud of!
