contributions to the 2017 4-H Awards & Recognition Social held on September 17th.
Thanks goes to all the AWESOME 4-H’ers who led the 4-H program: Lemuel Bowden,
Tiona Fagan, and Katelyn Chandler. Thanks to our sponsors: Ramey’s Marketplace and Ms.
Von Norwood. A very special thanks to Mr. William Armstrong for his in–kind service to
the program. Also, volunteers and members of the 4-H Gardening Club, State Fair Exhibits,
Shooting Sports, Cloverbuds, Livestock, 4-H Congress and other activities were recognized.
If you missed the event, you missed great food and a good time. We hope you will be a part
of the 2018 celebration. Thanks to all the parents who support 4-H and youth in the program.
Three Areas of Recognition: Engage, Experience, Excel ENGAGE...is the basic recognition a member receives just by being par t of the
program. There isn't any application process to win... you simply get it for being you!
This recognition happens at your club and county programs and might include things
such as a welcoming message in the newsletter, a shout out on social media, a 4-H
membership card, or other special treat.
EXPERIENCE...offers recognition for members who par ticipate in activities and
events. There is always lots you can do as a 4-H member ranging from club activities to
national events. There is no limit to the number of members who can achieve each
level... if you do the work, you get the award. This includes medals, pins, monetary
awards, 4-H swag , and other awards.
EXCEL...is where competition kicks in. At this level, you will be competing against
other 4-H members for top awards such as state and national trips, scholarships, and
monetary awards.

READY FOR THE HOLIDAYS?
Come join us for a decoration meeting for the 4-H float for the
Christmas Parade on November 27 at 5:30 PM. We had such a good
time last year that we are doing it again. Come be a part of the fun!
Why not make your own fun personalized holiday crafts? The gift making classes are open to all
members, volunteers, and parents who would like to learn and have fun with friends at the Extension
office. Instead of wasting gasoline to drive far away to other craft classes, and waiting in line to pur-
chase trinkets, come to the JDC Extension Service on December 5th and 12th at 6 PM. We will enjoy
some scrumptious holiday sweets and treats! So call the office to reserve your seat!
The Jefferson Davis County Extension Office will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday November 23-24th
and December 21st through January 1, 2018, in observance of the Winter Holidays.
Programs of Mississippi State University Extension Service are open to all people, without regard to race, color, religion, sex,
national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or group affiliation.
WE NEED YOU TO LIKE US! OUR NEW FACEBOOK PAGE:
https://www.Facebook.com/JEFFERSON.DAVIS.4H/ TO STAY IN THE KNOW AND UP-TO- DATE ON ALL UPCOMING 4-H EVENTS AND ACTIVITES.
