THE DIPLOMA MAY BE CLOSER THAN YOU THINKTo recognize learning which takes place outside the classroom, the Ministry of Education allows the awarding of equivalencycredits toMatureStudents (persons18+andoutof school forat leastoneyear).All applicants forequivalency standing must earn a minimum of the last four credits (these credits must be at the Senior Level – Grade 11 or 12) after becoming a mature student, before a diploma will be issued. Assessments for diploma requirements are completed on an individual basis, and require a transcript of your credits from your last school. COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (TGJ3M/4M)COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY PREPARATIONThis course examines communications technology from a media perspective. Students will develop knowledge and skills as they design and produce media projects in the areas of live, recorded, and graphic communications. These areas may include TV, video, and movie production; radio and audio production; print and graphic communications; photography; digital imaging; broadcast journalism; and interactive new media. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will explore college and university programs and career opportunities in the various communications technology fields.

CHALLENGE AND CHANGE INSOCIETY (HSB4U)UNIVERSITY PREPARATIONStudents will critically analyse how and why cultural, social and behavioural patterns changes over time. They will explore the ideas of social theorists and use those ideas to analyse causes of and responses to challenges such as technological change, deviance and global inequalities. Students will explore ways in which social science research methods can be used to study social science.Prerequisite: Any University, University/College preparation course in Social Sciences and Humanities, English, or Canadian & World Studies.

Course Fee: There is NO FEE to take a credit course at night school.

Adult Walk in Registration & Counselling is available if you are not

attending a day school program, to discuss requirements for the Ontario Secondary

School Diploma. In person registration will be on Tuesday September 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at St. Catharines Collegiate.

A Personal Support Worker is someone who provides direct personal and health care assistance to the aged, chronically ill or disabled including all age groups. There is a growth trend in the demand for Personal Support workers in long term care facilities, in community (home) care environments, and in hospitals. For the past several years, theDistrictSchoolBoardofNiagarahasgraduated hundreds of individuals with an averageof90%placementrateintojobsintheNiagaraRegionnowpaying$16-22perhour.

The Personal Support Worker Program providedbytheDSBNhasmetallprofessional and educational requirements as outlined by the PSW Education Program Standards and is ACCREDITED. In addition, the program meets the curriculum requirements for high school credits as set by the Ministry of Education.

OurPSWteachersarecertifiedbytheOntario College of Teachers and are R.N.s or R.P.N.s. Join the many others who have earned their high school diploma, gained valuable work skills, and become employed as a Personal Support Worker.
