Fairy Houses

Grades K - 3

Take part in the MAGIC of fairy-house building! Inspired by the popular Fairy House book series by Tracy Kane, this course will help students appreciate nature’s treasures and see them in a new, creative way. They will make many nature-inspired crafts, draw in their nature journals and build their own “portable” fairy house to take home. If weather permits, students might even have the chance to go outdoors to collect natural objects and/or build more fantastic fairy homes.

Oh My!

Age 3 - Kindergarten

Do you love reading books and making art? Each week, we will read a fall-themed book and create a related work of art to take home such as tractor painting, bubble wrap sheep and salad spinner pumpkins. We will also have a blast doing fun movement activities together.

Artful Animals

Grades K - 8

Students will indulge in a wide range of art projects relating to the exciting world of animals. Projects may include sewing, painting, sculpting, etc. We will also be welcoming 2 live animal demonstrations from Animal World Experience on 10/9 and 11/13. Projects will be adapted to accommodate the unique interests and abilities of students in grades K-8.

Social Sewing

Social Sewing Studio in North Reading is bringing an exciting new class to ASM! Students will learn the basics of hand and machine sewing to make a variety of fun and useful objects like drawstring pouches, pajama pants, scrunchies and more!

Tiny Dancers

Age 3 - Kindergarten

ASM is pleased to welcome the Center for Performing Arts (CPA) to our Enrichment Program! In this coed movement class, students will have fun, while building basic ballet and jazz skills. Classes will include stretching, pre-ballet instruction, musical games, and jazz and free movement exploration. Ballet or jazz shoes are required for this class. Water bottles are highly recommended. A small performance will be given at 4:15 p.m. on the final day.

KikStart

Mixed-sports & Karate

Age 3 - Kindergarten

This exciting program combines the basic elements of sports and karate. Each class will consist of a different sporting activity and will conclude with karate exercises to promote balance, coordination, and self-defense. No-contact blocking, kicking, striking will be covered in karate. Sporting activities will include soccer, scooters, baseball, hockey, football and much more. Sneakers, comfortable clothes and water bottles are required.

Tuesday Yoga

Age 3 - Kindergarten

In this age-appropriate yoga course, children will strengthen their bodies, improve their flexibility and calm their minds. Through engaging stories and themes, they will learn basic yoga poses, while developing their body-awareness and building confidence. New themes and poses each session!

This course introduces traditional recurve archery and the thrill of success one can experience with a little patience and focus. With safety demonstrations and unique lessons, students learn proper shooting form that leads to consistent results and accuracy. Skill-building games allow for friendly competition and enjoyment. In the event of rain, participants will do indoor activities in a classroom. Lucy has trained under Olympic coach Lee and studied the Japanese meditative archery form Kyudo at the Zen Mountain Monastery in New York.

Play like a pro in KikStart Soccer! Join Coach J, former professional soccer player, in this fun and energetic program. Children will learn the fundamentals of soccer and improve upon individual balance, speed and coordination. Each class will focus on new skill sets and will conclude with exciting games. Sneakers, water bottles and comfortable clothes are required. On rainy days, the class will be held indoors.

Have a blast with Soccer Shots! Their successful preschool curriculum emphasizes skill-building as well as positive char-acter traits like respect, teamwork and appreciation. Through fun games and positive reinforcement, children will learn the basic rules of the game as well as how to dribble, pass and shoot the soccer ball. Sneakers, water bottles and comforta-ble clothes are required. Please note, that since the American Room is unavailable on October 4 and November 15, the class will take place in 2 classrooms, if the players are unable to be outside.

Instructor: Soccer Shots is a curriculum-based soccer program for ages 2-8 that is active in over 5,000 childcare and educa-tional institutions nationwide. Soccer Shots teaches soccer skills while supporting positive character development in chil-dren.

Join our soccer team! ASM is a proud member of the Montessori Athletic Conference (MAC), a league made up of over a dozen regional independent schools. Each Tuesday, our soccer players will have a practice or a game. ASM’s Physical Education Teacher, Caitlin Goffman, is excited to coach the team. Questions? While learning the fundamentals of a yoga practice, students will be led through a sequence of poses in creative and fun ways. Students will develop an enhanced sense of body awareness and will practice mindfulness in a safe and healthy environment.

Broadway Bound

Age 5 - Grade 3

Stacey D’Onofrio is bringing the fun and flair of Broadway back to ASM this fall! Students will be immersed in the singing, dancing, and performing that makes musical theatre so magical. Through theatre games, vocal exercises and simple choreography, students will build independent skills while working as part of a group. There will be a small live performance at the end of the session. Dates: 6 Thursdays - 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17 & 10/24

Instructor: Stacey Whelan D’Onofrio graduated from Wagner College with a BA in Theatre and Speech and has been performing all over New England and New York since she was 2 years old. Early Birds Chorus

Grades 1 and Up

Early Birds Chorus - Grades 1 and up

The Early Birds Chorus meets in the nap room at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesdays when school is in session. The chorus is open to students grades 1 and up and attendance is free. Singers will read and sing songs ranging from traditional folk, to pop, to Broadway and beyond. Beginning singers start out by singing the choruses, while those with more experience will learn to harmonize. African Safari Adventures

Age 3 - Kindergarten

Join the safari as we transport ourselves to the African savanna! We’ll play fun improv games, dance and sing with African instruments and listen to African folklore tales. Early theater education can play a significant role in the development of self-esteem and self-confidence in young children. While having fun and learning age-appropriate theater techniques, students in this class will also build skills in areas of communication, presence and collaboration.

Experience the exciting world of science first-hand! Students will perform fascinating experiments exposing them to multiple facets of modern-day science. Previous topics have included: What is matter?, The 5 Senses, Magnets, Insects and Crystals.

Circuit Makers: Create Your

Own Electronics

Grades K-3

Let’s get creative with electricity! Students will gain experience with electronics by designing custom light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even musical instruments. Each class day includes a circuitry lesson and a hands-on electronics project, using components like lights, buzzers, switches, wires, and sensors. A Circuit Lab instructor will make sure participants create a project that they can be proud of each day.

Information

To register, complete the form on the ASM website in the parent page under “parent resources.” Your child’s place will not be held until payment has been received. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and many fill up quickly. If a class turns out to be full, you will be contacted and given the opportunity to sign up for something else. The registration deadline is Monday, September 9 at 10 a.m. You will receive a confirmation email after the dead-line has passed.

Enrichment classes begin on Monday, September 16 and will be held daily from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Childcare will be pro-vided between dismissal and 3:30 p.m. We recommend packing an extra snack for this time. If needed, After School Care is available from 4:30-6:00 p.m. for a $15 fee.

After School Care Subscription Discount

If a child is subscribed to After School Care for 3 or more days per week, the child can receive a discount of $50 on one Enrichment class (per Enrichment season) that occurs on one of the days for which the child has subscribed to After School Care.

Math Olympiad

Grades 4 - 6 (Grade 3 by Request)

Taught by Chyten Educational Services, this unique course runs from mid-October through mid-March. Each week, students will develop their problem-solving skills and learn new strategies that will inspire mathematical creativity. Beginning in November, they will participate in a 30-minute national math contest each month. Contest dates are in bold.

Did you know that chess enhances cognitive development in children and improves verbal and mathematical skills? Chess Wizards is a premier chess education company that provides engaging chess lessons that are fun, informative and challenging. With an emphasis on good sportsmanship, students will be divided into groups according to their skill-level (beginners are welcome!). At the end of the session, each student will have the chance to participate in a mini-chess tournament.

Middle School

Improve your test-taking skills in time for the November 16th SSAT exam! Taught by Chyten Educational Services, this engaging course will take place twice a week at ASM for be a discounted rate of $900 per student. While we do anticipate a lot of interest in this class, if fewer than 5 students sign up, it will take place in downtown Andover instead of ASM. Please note that parents are responsible for registering their child for the SSAT test.
