Instituto Cervantes is the largest international Spanish teaching and cultural organization in the world. Our internationally recognized curriculum is taught at over 86 centers all over the globe. We are a non-profit organization, endorsed by the Government of Spain.
Levels
Superior Level C1 (sublevels C1.1 + C1.2 + C1.3 + C1.4 + C1.5 + C1.6) *
· Understand and recognize nuances and subtext in more demanding and longer texts.
· Express fluently and spontaneously.
· Communicate in a flexible and efficient manner for social, academic, and professional purposes.
· Produce clear and well-structured texts on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors, and cohesive devices.

Superior Level C2 (sublevels C2.1 + C2.2 + C2.3 + C2.4 + C2.5 + C2.6 + C2.7 + C2.8) *
· Show a wide and complete command of linguistic resources to formulate thoughts with precision, eliminate ambiguity.
· Understand and interpret all types of oral and written texts, containing a high degree of colloquialism, regionalism, unusual terminology, and implicit meanings.
· Elaborate complex texts with clarity, fluency, and appropriate style, such as reports and articles that present a critical appreciation of literary works or research projects.

* Each sublevel has a duration of 30 hours.
Placement Test
· Any new students enrolling in an A1.2 level or above MUST take a placement test. This test aims to accurately assess your level of Spanish within the four aspects of the language:
· Reading and writing comprehension: multiple-choice section and a writing exercise (online).
· Listening and oral assessment: conversation with a teacher (over the phone).

Beginner Level A1 (sublevels A1.1 + A1.2) *
*Level A1.1 requires no prior knowledge of Spanish.
· Understand everyday expressions and communicate basic phrases used in daily situations.
· Introduce themselves and others and pose personal questions such as where they live.

Advanced Beginner Level A2 (sublevels A2.1 + A2.2 + A2.3) *
· Use and understand full sentences frequently used within different contexts e.g. shopping, employment, local environment.
· Communicate simple tasks and describe personal background and matters in areas of immediate need.

Intermediate Level B1 (sublevels B1.1 + B1.2 + B1.3 + B1.4 + B1.5) *
· Understand descriptions and situations seen at work, school, or leisure time and link different ideas.
· Deal with issues or concerns while traveling in a Spanish speaking area.
· Describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions and explain opinions and plans.

Advanced Level B2 (sublevels B2.1 + B2.2 + B2.3 + B2.4 + B2.5) *
· Understand concrete and abstract ideas in complex texts, including discussions related to the students’ field of knowledge.
· Interact with a degree of fluency with native speakers without strain for either party.
· Write clear and detailed texts on a wide range of subjects and explain the pros and cons on topical issues.

Prices for In-Person and Online Courses
Monday - Friday: 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm $395 Saturdays: 10:00 am - 11:30 am $395 / 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm $395
Private In-Person and Online Lessons Private classes for all levels tailored to your needs and schedule. Classes can be taken by up to two individuals, or in groups of three or more. These classes will be held online.
General requirements: Onsite or online:
· A minimum purchase of 10 hours.
· Classes must be at least 1 hour long
· Schedules must be created before the start of each course.
Total number of hours purchased must be used within the following 3 months after the first day of classes scheduled.
$140/h - Price up to 2 students.
Classes are taught in Spanish from day one in every level to encourage our students to communicate in Spanish from the very first moment they start the course.
Teachers Instituto Cervantes’ teachers are highly qualified native Spanish speakers from Spain and Latin America. Our teachers are experienced in different fields and regularly engage in workshops to stay up to date on the latest methods and technologies of teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
Our teachers’ methodology is interactive and dynamic and seeks to develop communications skills using grammar and cultural content.

Spanish Courses
Class size The minimum is 6 students, and the maximum is 12. In special circumstances and depending on the needs of the course, Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to adapt the size of the class. We encourage students to register early or we may not be able to accommodate them at the time that best fits their schedule.
Students registered in a canceled course will be duly notified and may choose to either receive a full refund or transfer to another course. If the student is transferred to a course with higher registration fees, the student must pay the price difference. If the course is less expensive than the original course, the student will receive a refund for the price difference.
Class modality Instituto Cervantes New York reserves the right to link an in person and online classes to form a hybrid course if necessary. Students will attend the modality in which they registered.
Teachers and Class Groups Teachers are not assigned to their classes until the week prior to the beginning of each session. Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to reassign teachers after a course has started.
Students cannot choose the teacher for their course. If a class is divided into two groups, we cannot guarantee that students will continue in a class with their former classmates. Attendance and Transfers Attendance is the student’s responsibility. It is recommended that students contact their teacher for homework in the case of an absence. Refunds will not be processed for any absences.
Once classes have started, students may transfer or request a refund ($75 cancellation fee) before the second class of the course.
Payment Full payment must be received prior to the first class. Payments can be made online or over the phone, by debit, or credit card (Instituto Cervantes' preferred method of payment is debit or credit card).

Online Courses: AVE (Aula Virtual en español)
Study wherever and whenever you want with the AVE Global online platform.
AVE Global is the Cervantes Institute’s platform for on-line Spanish courses, designed to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels A1 to C1.
AVE Global consists of a total of 16 courses and 48 topics supplemented with teaching materials, videos and interactive exercises. These courses and materials can be used as supplementary content for Spanish classes, or as a main source for independent study. With this entertaining approach, students can learn Spanish effectively and independently on mobile devices anytime, anywhere. AVE Global courses cover a comprehensive suite of activities geared to the level chosen. The sixteen 30 hour courses on offer are designed to the latest approach to language teaching. Students may navigate freely through course materials and activities for 3 months, subject to no time restrictions.

The following discounts are available for the Summer term.
Are you a returning student? This discount is intended for Instituto Cervantes’ returning students who have taken a course during the Spring and Summer 2021 terms. It can ONLY be combined with the Senior discount up to a maximum of 25% off each course.
Early Registration for Returning Students – 15% off
Students will receive a coupon code by email once registration begins. Discount code MUST be used before the deadline. If you’re a returning student and have not received the coupon code, make sure to write and request it at
Are you a new student? Early Registration – 10% off
Use code 10OFF and get a 10% discount on any of our courses. The deadline is Wednesday, September 15th, until midnight. It can ONLY be combined with the Senior discount up to a maximum of 25% off each course. If you’re a returning student, please ask for the right discount code.
Seniors – 10% off A 10% discount for senior citizens (65+) subject to presentation of valid documentation (ID). If a valid ID is not provided within one week after the course starts, an automatic charge will be applied to your credit card reversing the discount.

Only one type of early registration discount may be used per student. It may be combined with sibling discount if applicable.

Refunds To request a refund, please send a written request by email to [email protected] before the second class. All refunds have a cancellation fee of $75. Refunds are not offered for private lessons. Teachers' workshops are also non-refundable.
Cancellations Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to cancel courses and workshops. Courses are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment (less than 6 students registered). If your course is cancelled, you will be notified and given the option to transfer to another class or to receive a full refund.

Privacy Classes online will not be recorded. Our teachers have been instructed and will instruct all the students in each group. Instituto Cervantes only uses images of its activities with the previous written consent of all the parts involved.
