One thing that will strike you as you read the Bible is how often it talks

about the importance of our minds, of knowledge and of seeking

wisdom. God is a thinking, reasoning, rational God, and we share

that trait as people who bear His image. Ideas matter. What we think

about shapes what we believe, and what we believe will ultimately

shape who we become.

Genuine transformation can only happen at the heart level, but

our minds are the gateway to our hearts. This is why we are invited

throughout the Bible to “set our minds on things above” (Col. 3:2). The

truth matters. The truth is what sets people free. There’s a reason that

Satan is first and foremost a great Liar.

LifeShaping at FCC is our opportunity to train our minds, and therefore

our hearts, in the Truth—across the entire spectrum of Christian

maturity and across every life stage and need. This happens through

classroom discussion and interaction with our peers, personal study

during the week, and equipping one another to care for each other

in community. It is not simply a transfer of information. We teach to

transform hearts through study. Our goal is to be shaping our lives to

look more like Jesus.

Please consider joining us in one of the many opportunites that we

have available. Join us as we pursue Christ-likeness together.

“But that is not the way you learned Christ! – assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24

Tim PrincePastor for Missional Community

Welcome to LifeShaping! Our goal in this more structured discipleship envirionment is equip Faith Community Church to grow as disciples and to disciple others outside of the classroom.

Our primary classes run on Sunday mornings at 9 and 11 am, but at times we will seek to extend our training to other days and locations in order to help equip our community.

If you are new to LifeShaping, we hope that this guide is helpful for you. If you are a seasoned participant, we hope that this serves you as an encouragement that we are pursuing Jesus Christ and His Kingdom Mission.

Tim Prince is leading our efforts to enhance FCC’s Sunday education hour as a place for both growth and training that reaches every age spectrum. FCC desires for this structured learning to help us love Jesus better, and help empower us to go out into our community with the love of Christ.

BIBLICAL PARENTING

12 WEEKS - STARTS SEPT 28 | ADULTS

One of our greatest desires as a church is to equip one another to raise our kids in a way that lines up with Biblical principles. The world is full of opinions about what our kids need. Our hope is to bring clarity in the midst of many competing voices. The Biblical Parenting course is for parents, grandparents and for people who want to play an important part in the lives of young children.

GOD’S STORY - THE OLD TESTAMENT

FALL - STARTS SEPT 28 | HIGH SCHOOL

For grades 9-12, this is a study that helps students understand that Christ fulfilled the Old Testament’s teachings. The Gospel Project for Students helps teens develop a bigger perspective of Scripture and how the gospel of Jesus Christ ties it all together. Every week, in every passage, students will encounter the gospel through the in-depth study of biblical theology, missions, and the grand narrative of Scripture.

HOW PEOPLE CHANGE

FALL - STARTS SEPT 28 | ADULTS + HIGH SCHOOL

What does it take for lasting change to take root in your life? If you’ve ever tried, failed, and wondered why, you need How People Change. If you want to be better equipped to teach others to follow Jesus, then you need to consider this course. If you are a part of a Missional Community, you should consider taking this course as well. This class explains the biblical pattern for change in a clear, practical way you can apply to the challenges of daily life. You will see how God is at work to make you the person you were created to be, and that powerful, loving, redemptive relationship is at the heart of all positive change you experience.

DOCTRINES OF GRACE

FALL - STARTS SEPT 28 | ADULTS

A study of the biblical texts that reveal Scripture’s view of the human condition, and of the grace extended by God, in the context of redemption. The class follows the outline of the five points of Calvinism to illuminate the biblical distinctions. Hopefully, you will be humbled as you gain an understanding of the hopelessness of the human condition and stunned, and moved to worship, by the merciful initiative taken by a sovereign God.
