The Ordeal will be at
camp Boddie from March
18th to the 20th. We will
be fixing up the camp and
fixing any damages
caused by the winter
weather. I Hope to see as
many members as
possible at this event
because it is usually our
largest ordeal of the year,
and we need as many
brothers as possible in
order to get Camp Boddie
back into proper Working

Lodge Work day at Camps Charles and Sam Hatcher
We had our lodge workday last month at camps Charles and Sam Hatcher. Both
workdays were a success and the camps are looking much better. Our arrowmen
worked hard and accomplished many tasks. This joint workday was one of our
most successful workdays in recent years, and we appreciate the help of all the
Brothers that participated. We couldn’t have done it without you.
CROA-TALK
Brothers,
Another year is
upon us and March
Ordeal is quickly
approaching. Last
month, both the Camp
Charles and Camp Sam
Hatcher workdays were
well attended and some
much needed service
was performed. Total
attendance was around
60 brothers and several
members of local troops.
Keep in mind
that Conclave is next
month at Camp Raven
Knob, near Mount Airy,
NC. Wahissa Lodge has
been hard at work and
will put on a great
Conclave for sure. The
registration form is
available on our Lodge
website.
After receiving
the honor of quality
lodge last year, it is
important that we
continue this legacy and
start the year off strong.
I look forward to seeing
each of you at Ordeal,
ready to serve.

encourage them to make a commitment to attend camp. We also need to promote Cub Scout camping to include attendance at Cub Day/Twilight Camps, Cub Residence Camp at Camp Boddie and the fall Family Camp events at Camps Boddie and Charles. Starting them young creates a lifetime enjoyment of camping and these youngest Scouts will be new Arrowmen one day. With this in mind, I propose the Lodge also do the following in 2011: We visit and make a camping promotions
presentation to at least 100% of all Troops in our Council;
NEW EMPHASIS: we visit and make a camping promotions presentation to at least 100% of
the Cub Scout Packs in our Council, with a special emphasis made for Cub Scout Day/Twilight Camp and Summer Residence Camp;
We update the online Where To Go Camping booklet on the Council web site (I am open to suggestions and volunteers to help with this project);
Create a new video to promote Camp Boddie; Follow-up with each Troop that has indicated they plan
to attend Camp Boddie and ask them to confirm their attendance by registering their Scouts and paying their fees.

Fellow Brothers, We are a brotherhood of honor campers and as such, we have a duty and obligation to encourage others to follow our path; to promote camping, especially long-term camping such as going to summer camp. After all, we would not be in the OA if we had not attended summer camp, as that is one of the requirements for OA eligibility. Our chapters have reported that they have made many visits to troops throughout the council to promote summer camp however, many troops remain undecided, or uncommitted, to attending summer camp. We need to make it our mission to contact each troop in our home district and

Hey everybody,
Thanks for all the great work that everybody did at the Camp Charles workday! Once again I'm terribly sorry that I missed it, but I have heard nothing but good things from it. We have our first Ordeal of the 2011 year coming up soon, lets start it off with a great weekend packed full of
cheerful service and fellowship. We have a lot of things that need to get done that will really help the overall appearance of our camp. And as always I can't wait for the upcoming Conclave! Hope you all are ready to Rock 'n Roll at the Quest Events! I would like to remind everybody that I wanted to know each chapter's day of
service plans by the March Ordeal so make sure you have all of that planned, and also if you have any ideas for our fellowship quest events that you would like to see us do feel free to let me know.

While you’re here, make sure you sign up for Conclave. This year it will be hosted by Wahissa 118 at Camp Raven Knob in Mt. Airy. Wahissa put

Greeting Brothers,
Well, our OA year is gearing up and I hope everyone is planning on attending Ordeal next weekend.
Remember that we have a new schedule for the weekend, so lets make sure we are on point for our new

are interested please see me this weekend and I will get your information.
At Ordeal this weekend there are some special work needs requiring painting and roofing experience. If
you can be one of these special individuals please give Nelson a call at 252-947-0008 to let him know. I

OA High Adventure
Have you ever watched the Northern Lights dance across the sky over the Canadian Border? Carried a canoe a mile to see a spectacular waterfall? Worked to repair historic trails? Paddled forty miles in one day, seemingly
chasing after a perfect sunset across countless still lakes?
This summer, take advantage of an opportunity to have experiences like these at the Order of the Arrow Wilderness Voyage or Canadian Odyssey at the Northern Tier High Adventure Bases in Minnesota and Ontario. On a two-week trek with one of these programs you can give service through trail building, make unforgettable
memories, and canoe in beautiful remote country.
The service at the foundation of our Order acts as the cornerstone of this program. During your first week, you will work with your crew to repair and restore portage trails in the Superior National Forest or Quetico Provincial Park. This crew is composed of Arrowmen from around the country and led by two outstanding foremen trained in trail building, outdoor skills, and the Scouting and OA programs. During the second week you will embark on a voyage where you will explore pristine wilderness, make leadership decisions, and face up to the challenges
of nature. The friendships and memories that you make in the North Woods will stand the test of time.
You can attend one of these two-week programs for only $200. Arrowmen must be between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one to attend. For applications and more information on the opportunities please visit
adventure.oa-bsa.org.

Hey Guys,
If you are a brotherhood member and would like to be a Neamat at the March Ordeal please Contact Patrick Sharpe at 252-544-2374. Neamats will be in charge of guiding the brotherhood candidates on
the Brotherhood hike in the afternoon, and assisting with brotherhood questioning at lunch.
March Ordeal Neamats Needed
Are you currently a chapter officer? Have you considered running for a Lodge office
position?
If so, be sure to look into the new mentoring program at March Ordeal. This will give
prospective officers a look into what a specific officer does during the Ordeal, making them
better informed about the duties of the position. This program will involve assisting an
officer for a portion of the weekend and is excellent experience for anyone who interested
in becoming a lodge officer. If you are interested, please email me at
Mentoring program for up and coming lodge Officers
New Ordeal Schedule
As you saw on page 6, the ordeal schedule has been changed, the brotherhood questioning now takes place in the morning, and the brotherhood, and ordeal ceremonies are taking place after dark. We hope this new schedule will bring feeling of reverence back to the ceremonies, that our daytime ceremonies seemed to lack. If you have any questions about the new schedule, please feel free to email me at
